QB Tony Poljan decommits from Minnesota - cites "ever changing leadership at MN"

Or, maybe he asked Claeys if the staff was staying together and was told yes and now he's irritated. People get upset about a lot of things. Maybe he'll rethink his decision, maybe he'd rather play TE at Nebraska than QB at Minnesota. Who knows. Seemed like he had some nice tools, nice athlete with size. I for one am sorry to see him go. Not going to cry about it but we will soon be scraping the bottom of the barrel this year, recruiting-wise, if more talented recruits want to know what the new OC brings to the table.

I was hoping Claeys had someone waiting in the wings to take over but that doesn't appear to be the case. Obviously we need to get the OC hire right before worrying about recruits but in an ideal world one would like to have both priorities squared away.

Poljan gets offer from Michigan State

We will never forget the name Tony Poljan....

He actually reminds me a lot of Matt LaCosse, who was a HS QB in Illinois being recruited to play TE. He committed here under Brewster and flipped to Illinois about a week after Kill was hired (thread here: http://www.forums.gopherhole.com/bo...Matt-LaCosse-Decommits-goes-to-Illinois/page2). It will actually end up being almost identical if Poljan commits to MSU, as it will be a decommit following a coaching change to play for a home state team. He never really did much at Illinois, but is a good athlete and is actually on the Giants practice squad.

So according to the link they are looking at him as DE. Not sure how to feel about our prized QB recruit (up until recently) being recruited to play a totally different position by our competition.

I'm not sure how you feel about any of the QBs on our roster, then?

Nebraska, MSU both have 4 star QBs committed. They recognize the athletic ability of Poljan. Not sure why some are cutting him down, many observers felt he has the tools to be a decent QB in time. Certainly a project in the mold of a Demry croft or Seth Green, adapting to big time football.

ISU doesn't have a QB this cycle, and I'd imagine he could still end up at CMU if he really wants to play QB. He will be an interesting one to watch.

Poljan will be a better DE than Terrell Lucas IMO. Over the summer at Sound Mind Sound Body, Josh Helmholdt actually said he could see him developing into an NFL DE.

I suspect that he is out of the office until new years but a very good question. Be sure to ask him again when he returns.

You guys are a comedy duo!
