Interesting look at college athletic revenue vs. subsidies. Jump to the bottom of the page for the comparison of subsidies by power conference.

A small handful of the very wealthiest athletic departments harvest so much revenue that it almost doesn’t matter how much they spend. These fortunate few break even, or, like the University of Texas and 11 other schools, even return some of that cash back to their host university.

Which proves the point football doesn't pay everything and often doesn't even pay for itself. Which lots of folks like to disagree with, but facts are facts. Was true when I took MJK's class 20 years ago and still true today.
