per ESPN:

How Minnesota can pull off the upset: The Gophers must ride their strengths. A power running game behind their veteran offensive line. A lock-down secondary. And outstanding special-teams play. If they can keep TCU’s offense off the field with long, sustained drives, win field position in the kicking game and disrupt Boykin’s timing in the passing game, they’ll have a shot.

What a win would mean for the Big Ten: The league is already riding a wave of momentum after last year’s finish. Taking down the No. 2 team and major playoff contender on opening night would only add to the Big Ten’s improving image. Minnesota has won eight games in each of the past two years, but a victory here would represent a real breakthrough and signal that the Gophers are ready to take the next step.

Go Gophers!!

Interesting tidbit I hadn't seen yet: Mike Freeze, the true freshman expected to start at MLB, sat out his senior year in H.S. with a shoulder injury. This means his last game action was two years ago as a junior in HS. Certainly there will be some true freshmen who impact the outcome of this game on both squads, but his role is pretty significant.
