per Sandell:

Whether that frame of mind will show through after the opening kickoff next Thursday remains to be seen, but the Gophers' outlook on their matchup with the Horned Frogs is a compliment to Kill's matter-of-fact approach, and to the culture change that has slowly taken place in the past four seasons.

The bottom line is that the Gophers need no reminding of the team they'll see in Game 1.

"We know who we're playing against," junior defensive back Jalen Myrick said. "We're playing against a high explosive offense, a team who likes to speed up everything and a team who can score points in a hurry. We understand that they are really good ... We know that. But we're going to compete as hard as we can and come out with the W."

The season opener figures to be a prime showdown for fans starved of college football for seven months, between two programs with much prove this season.
