This pow-wow tomorrow is the one I alluded to yesterday on here when I said next week. Not next week. Tomorrow. Pretty big deal. #gophers

Told tomorrow late morning at TCF Stadium: many boosters gathering to chat w/ Goetz, Kill, etc. Athletics Village the main talker. #gophers

Wonder when we'll find out who well it went?

How long before Doogie gets ripped for using the hostile and abusive term "pow-wow"?

Enlighten me...in the context used, how is it offensive or abusive? He is saying it's an important meeting hoping to establish/continue peace between boosters and the athletic department leaders.
Seems more like a compliment to me. One of the dictionary definitions is: a meeting for discussion. Seems appropriate to me?

When it comes to folks of a certain mindset, context really doesn't matter. There'll be people up in arms just for saying it. I remember during the '84 election, Reagan commented that he 'had it up to his k(ei)ster' about something and some people from K(ie)ster, MN claimed to be outraged at the president for saying that (it hurt the image of the town or something). I'm sure the fact that Mondale's hometown of Elmore being nearby played a part also.

Lighten up, it was tongue in cheek. Although some people would view it as a culturally insensitive usage.

Somebody cue up "Please Mr. Custer"

Easy with the tongue and cheek references Mr. Folks in these parts are a little sensitive to talk involving tongues.....

Don't tell anyone in Mt Lake, MN. Their annual summer celebration is the Mt Lake "Pow-wow." (one of the oldest continually-running celebrations in MN....)

Lol! Some micro aggression tool bags out there are probably crying in their steamed kale over the use of the term pow-wow by doogie. [emoji90]

So does anyone have info about what was actually discussed or presented at the meeting?

Good question. Just checked Doogie's Twitter account.

From a booster at today's Goetz/Kill gathering: "All it was … was a reporting and bringing up to date meeting... nothing new."

I drove by Grand Casino, Mille Lacs, and there was a pow-wow sign pointing toward the pow-wow grounds.

By the way...no Norwegians are allowed at the Mt. Lake pow-wow. Only Mennonites...

That is where my family is from originally. There used to be a sign coming in from the north side of town that said "Little town with big ideas" Always got a chuckle out of that.

Maybe reported elsewhere but Beth Goetz stated on Sid/Dave that it was a check-in/update on the status of the athletics department over the course of the transition away from Teague.

Really presented it as a matter of course for good communications with albeit important folks in the greater University community.
