8. Mitch Leidner, Minnesota

Minnesota’s strengths are no secret. Coach Jerry Kill plans to lean on the rushing attack and defense to contend in the Big Ten’s West Division. But if the Golden Gophers want to take the next step, improving the passing attack is a must. Leidner threw for 1,798 yards and 11 scores last season and added 452 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground. Minnesota doesn’t need 300 passing yards a game, but Leidner has to improve in 2015.

Just as a comparison, in 2014, Michigan State's Connor Cook threw for 3,214 yds, 24 tds, and 8 ints (Leidner also had 8 ints).

Just for compaison, Boykin from TCU had a QBR of 72.5 and Leidner had a QBR of 69.3.

Just as a comparison, in 2014 Michigan State's Connor Cook Rushed 51 times for a total of 80 yards, or a per carry average of 1.6, a long of 13 and 2 touchdowns.

Just as a comparison, in 2003, Texas Tech's B.J. Symons threw for 5,833 yards, 52 TDs and 22 INTs

Mitcheroo is a donkey but he is our donkey. When Jeff Jones is avg 10-12 yds/carry all Mitch has to do is throw 8 yd jump balls into the end zone.

Just as a comparison, in 1996, in HS, I had 58 tackles and 2 Int's.

Your agenda has become boring, bucky.

Neil Broten's stats from 1985-86: 80 GP 29 Goals 76 Assists...wait what are we talking about?

Just as a comparison, I am seeing the same guy flooding several threads with one sided Leidner hate, usually selectively leaving out facts that would provide balance to his negative opinion.

Mitch is going to have a breakout season, no question about it.

#8? No way. This list did not factor in Bucky's recent scientific rating or he would have been last

Getting pretty tired of the QB bashing habit of members of this forum. Some of you always assume the #2 and #3 QBs are clearly better than the starter. Especially, it seems to me, if the starter is from a MN HS. I like Leidner's leadership, his grit, his execution of the option, and his rushing. Put him behind a healthy OL and continue to include Wolitarsky in the play calls, and we'll be fine.

...as a junior.

In his junior season, so far, against two quality opponents, Mitch's is on pace to have this total: 2,580 passing yards, 18 TDs, 0 picks. Plus an additional 420 yards rushing. Would Cook have been drafted if he came out last year? If so, Croft may start next season when we lose Mitch to the draft.
