All Things Dredrick Snelson Thread

He visited them last weekend and from their reaction not many of them have ever been to Minnesota and they have no idea the kind of program Coach Kill is building.

Welcome, Dredrick!
The real U ... where it is.

Really curious evaluations. Per Rivals a 5.9 4 star, ESPN 4 star; 247 has him as an 80 3 star and dropped him about a 1000 spots in their rankings May 15. That's curious to say the least. Someone in the know will need to pass along the insider info on this kid. Poor Jr season? Hurt?

He was ranked as high as 24th in the nation by Rivals in the spring. Can't say it enough, it's rare to see such a dichotomy between services. Pissing match?

From a rivals article: https://lsu.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1771361

"The decision to move Snelson down in the rankings was unanimous, but the choice to slide him 99 spots divided the room. Snelson was solid at the Rivals Camp stop in Miami but failed to dominate the 7-on-7 circuit like a top-100 player should. Some believed that the move was drastic for a so-so camp circuit, while other maintained that his new, No. 123 ranking better suits his skillset as a strong wide receiver that lacks elite height and is prone to taking plays off."

Wow! Did not see this one coming. Nice to see a player buck the system and pave his own path. Not many in his situation would. Kill has something special building here.

Shout out to the Daniels twins! Have to think that they had some influence here.

Reading the VT board is really remarkable. It's like people in the south don't look at anything but winter temperatures. The living conditions in Minneapolis are so far superior to whatever little "no-count" town VT is in, it's laughable. Minneapolis probably only trails NYC, Boston, Seattle, San Francisco, and Chicago (sorry Northwestern - you can't claim this city) in terms of cool places to live.

From another free Rivals article

Scouting report: Snelson boasts a thick build at 5-11, 194 and is as physical a receiver as there is in the class. He's not particularly long, but his speed and hands help make up for average height. A veteran of the camp circuit, Snelson has bested some of the best defensive backs in the country. He was a top performer at the recent Rivals Camp Series: Miami.

Latest: Alabama and Auburn offered Snelson in back-to-back days recently and both seem to be serious players in his recruitment. That said, dragging the receiver out of state won't be easy. Snelson is a one-time Miami commit and is still considering the Hurricanes to some extent.

Leaders: Florida, Florida State, Ohio State, and Auburn.

Way-too-early prediction: Ohio State

A few of them realize that the Gophers are not some second rate team. Heck....one of their posters pointed out that our recruiting class is better than theirs. The rest? Lol. They've made their excuses and are going to stick to them. It's going to be funny when OSU crushes them this fall.

Dredrick Snelson Commits!

Bitter fans are the absolute best. Everyone needs to read that thread and never be that guy.

Why does everyone south of St. Louis think they live in Southern California?

Hope he likes polar bears!

The Empire is getting stronger every day. I hope Carter works his magic on this kid so he keeps his commit. Can't believe how our recruiting keeps getting so much better every year. This makes all the terrible Brewster years worthwhile

Not to mention NOT every kid in this country afraid of the cold. Even in Florida. Look at the class Kill is building. Our team is on the rise. Some can see the forrest for the trees.

Don't think that Carter is the one to look to. Based upon what we've seen.....it's the Daniels twins who have helped sway his decision.

Considering that one of Snelson's main factors was playing time......Minnesota is a good choice. Nothing but open playing time here.

I'm going to celebrate by watching Forrest Gump. Life is a box of chocolates, friend.

Whether we'd see better recruits was the last refuge of the hard core doubters.

Potentially a very big brick out of that wall.

Meanwhile, we could use another Decker. Hopefully this kid lives up to that dream.

I see him as a slot receiver maybe a step or three above KJ Maye. No word on his quickness or speed. When you add him to last years threesome something has to happen in the big play front. Welcome Mr. Snelson! SKI U MAH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, big time get, welcome aboard!

Wasn't the scouting report that he was physical? Kj may isn't very physical is he?

Good post. Looks like that type of player for sure. What's really exciting is that often times slot receivers are quick/shifty, but lack either straight line speed or physicality, or both. Snelson looks like he has the quickness to play slot receiver, but also has deep threat speed & has a solid build that should help him be ready to block & go across the middle immediately. This is a college ready player.

Huge get. Looks to be physical which adds diversity as a run blocker in our scene who can also hit it big and hit a homer run when we need him to when things are getting stacked up against the run out of the same formation. Really excited about landing him. We need game breakers at wr and he should fit the build

I could be wrong but I don't even think the staff didn't really knew anything about him at all until the Daniels told the staff that Snelson was interested. Snelson might not have even had an offer before the Daniels made the staff aware of him.

Interestingly enough, in the video at the bottom of this article the Florida Recruiting Analyst for Scout says that Snelson has been trending in this direction for about a month.

Of course if you listen to the VT fans he's as good as gone if they offer though

I actually like VT as a team but their fans are coming off as arrogant pricks for a team that hasn't been all that good for a few years.

Well they beat tOSU so they're the best team in the country obviously.

Great get as Kill once again proves the doubters wrong! As for VT, come on now, they actually were good about a decade or two ago. Talk about has-beens. Just telling the truth.
