per CBS:

FOUR OFFSEASON HEADLINES

1. Indiana sets up a big year by keeping all three of its NBA prospects
2. The rest of the conference also kept a majority of its stars
3. Caleb Swanigan spurns Michigan State, heads to Purdue
4. Maryland brings in transfer Rasheed Sulaimon

EARLY GUESS AT LEAGUE STANDINGS

12. Minnesota DeAndre Mathieu is going to hate this rating, but the Gophers could really be in for some problems after Mo Walker, Austin Hollins, and Elliot Eilason. This is just not a highly-talented group.

Go Gophers!!

per Jon Rothstein's Big Ten "this and that"

• Minnesota has a potential All-Big Ten player in sophomore guard Nate Mason. The 6-1 Mason averaged 9.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game last season as a freshman and should be the Gophers' top player in 2015-16. This is the best player in the Big Ten that nobody is talking about.

Nobody knows what is ahead, but it's pretty hard to give an ounce of credibility to a rating that includes this many mistakes in one sentence.

+1 that sentence is really bad

Unfortunate thing, 95% of non-Minnesota fans, and 50% of Minnesota fans will read that and go, oh yeah, that makes a ton of sense.

Go Gophers!!

The real question is how they will overcome the loss of Trevor Mbakwe and Philip Nelson!

In defense of this inept writer, it is possible that DeAndre Mathieu will hate it...

The big guys who left did not fit this system at all. I expect to see a lot of progress throughout the season as these kids improve

How did "the rest of the conference" keep the majority of their stars? Regardless of whether you use the coaches' list or the media's list, there are 5 of the 14 non-Indiana players from the three 2015 All-Big Ten teams returning. So in other words, the Big Ten is not returning the majority of the top players, IU or otherwise. I suppose you could say the NBA early entries weren't quite as many as there might have been, but to suggest that the majority of the league's stars from last season are back is wrong.
