per the World Herald:

The opening weekend — which starts Sept. 3 and doesn’t end until Labor Day — is the biggest Big Ten showcase I can remember. The weekend essentially belongs to Boss Jim Delany’s league.

Minnesota hosts TCU — certain to be a preseason top-five team — on ESPN that Thursday night. Simultaneously, on Fox Sports 1, Jim Harbaugh begins his Michigan tenure at Utah. The Big Ten has two games on Friday night, one of which is an upset alert game: Michigan State at MAC favorite Western Michigan.

On Saturday, Northwestern hosts Stanford, Nebraska hosts BYU and Wisconsin plays Alabama in the Dallas Cowboys’ stadium. Then, on Labor Day night, Ohio State visits the one team — Virginia Tech — that beat the Buckeyes last season. But this time the Hokies will have raucous Lane Stadium on their side.

It could be the kind of boom the Big Ten takes through to conference play. It could be like last year’s bust. Or it could be a mix of good and bad that doesn’t help the league but doesn’t hurt Ohio State, the league’s marquee show.

Go Gophers!!

Odd they didnt specify last years abysmal September results. Big ten teams lost to The Little and Poor Sisters, The Plump Pie-eaters of Pisscacataway, Mary's School of Braile and The Convalescent Cougars.
