This is the ninth year in a row the Golden Nugget has been the first Las Vegas sportsbook to open betting on individual college football games. It's become an event that attracts bettors from all over. The sportsbook will take $1,000 limit bets on the games, some of which don't kick off for five months.

Below is the full list of games, which were released on Friday afternoon.

Golden Nugget 2015-16 Games of the Year

Thursday, Sept. 3
Michigan at Utah -4
TCU -18 at Minnesota

Discuss.

i feel pretty confident the gophs will cover.

Sorry mods. Didn't see the link in the other TCU thread. Go ahead and delete if necessary.

Lost $200 on my one and only career sports bet on this game last year =/.

I'd bet on the Gophers to cover, but the second I throw down a bet I am essentially jinxing them into a 21 point loss.

Would like to put a sizable amount on that line but I've learned not to bet in teams you cheer for

18 points is a lot but I can see the rationale. Vegas was going to have to come up with a number to get 50% of people (non-Gopher fans) to take Minnesota. In a vacuum, I think TCU -10 would be a pretty sane line - but, in that scenario, everybody not on Gopherhole would take TCU.

TCU won't score 18. Gophers 21 TCU 17.

So are you saying that the Gophers are national title contenders, or that TCU is way overrated? Because one of those things has to be true for that to be the outcome. I hope you're right, though!

Of course the Gophers are national title contenders. They are undefeated.

It will be interesting to watch the line as the game gets closer. I think the Gophs have a very good chance of covering the spread at 18. If the Gophs start attracting some money, you could see that spread get a little tighter in August. (not that I'm going to be betting on the game - way too cheap.)

Just optimistic I guess! I dropped my seasons last year but bought six to this tilt and I can't wait!

Really surprised that 'vegas thinks TCU is 18 better than MN but Alabama is only 10 better than WI. They really think Alabama is going to be down. I watched their spring game on SEC network on a business trip last month and they don't have a quarterback, but their defense is usually awesome.

It doesn't necessarily mean anything. Virginia Tech beat Ohio State by 14 in Columbus last year and it was an aberration of both of their seasons.

I don't bet on sports but if I ever do this is the kind of game I'd bet on and I would bet on TCU. I would do that simply because it would be a consolation prize for me if the game went that poorly for my beloved Gophers. I'd bet in an amount I could still cheer on the Gophers and be elated with a Gopher win, but could collect a little cash to dry my tears if they lose.

You're luck Gophers lose a heartbreaker by 3 points, so, you'd also lose the bet.

I would guess it'd be about that as well

I see Spoofin wasn't the only one confused on this, my apologies to him for being sarcastic in my last post.

-4 points = -200 moneyline. -20 points = somewhere in the neighborhood of -1500. That means IF you could even find someone using a moneyline on that point spread (very few places use moneylines on spreads that high), your take back would be around +1250, so his $50 bet on the moneyline dog would pay out around $625 if the Goph's won outright.

Yes. I used the term moneyline wrong. Money line is outright win and I was wrong. I should have said odds. You likely knew what I meant tho

I don't want to fight CRG. You'll accuse me of starting it and I know that is all that matters for you.

I don't know what any of this means, but sometimes I forget that not everyone has run sportsbooks & handicapped for a living. :) I should have been more helpful & less of a dick. My apologies.

It makes it a lot harder to be irritated when you apologize [emoji3]. No worries, I did use the wrong term. Thanks.
