Go Gophers!!

per the Fergus Falls Journal:

With diehards, coaches and young fans in tow, former Fergus Falls and current University of Minnesota Gophers football player Josh Campion and several teammates spoke at Grace United Methodist Church in Fergus Falls Saturday.

Campion, who was an integral part of the Gophers offensive line last season, helped lead the team to an 8-5 record, a bowl game appearance and a huge regular season victory against Michigan that brought the Little Brown Jug trophy back to Minneapolis. Campion spent last season at left tackle, but his versatility may lead him to move inside, playing right guard this season.

Campion brought several recognizable names to Fergus, including quarterback Mitch Liedner, receiver K.J. Maye and offensive lineman Jonah Pirsig, as wells as offensive linemen Foster Bush and Matt Liedner, linebacker Cody Poock and fullback Miles Thomas. The athletes were given a few days off and were headed to an area lake for a fun day of tubing and enjoying a nice, hot Minnesota day. The stop has been an annual event since the redshirt senior joined the Gophers.

The event kicked off with a question and answer segment hosted by Craig Olson. Olson asked each player a round of questions before turning it over to the crowd. Asked about his favorite experience on the field, Pirsig brought up taking on Ohio State defensive end Joey Bosa, who some project to be the top overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.

“Joey Bosa was an experience last season,” Pirsig laughed. “I look forward to it again this season.”

Campion, who was an integral part of the Gophers offensive line last season,
How about the last 3 seasons? If the Gophers have ever got their money's worth from awarding a scholarship its the one they gave to Campion.

Who says you can never go home again. These outings are great on so many levels. The players get a sense of where there teammate comes from, shares some time and stories, a little road trip. For the community seeing the favorite son, and other Gophers is validation for the town, and how about that wide eye young kid who may know Campion but the other Gophers had to make his day. And for the diehards Pirsig's comment. Its all good.
