But Pitino's recruits have grown even more excited after the Gophers' win over Michigan State. They sense another upset for the Gophers (17-12, 6-10) on Thursday night against No. 6 Wisconsin (26-3, 14-2) at Williams Arena.

"It was a big win, and the guys played well and together," Victory Rock Prep (Fla.) center and Minnesota recruit Jonathan Nwankwo said. "They can beat Wisconsin."

The Gophers hope their incoming recruiting class has a breakout talent eventually, but Pitino suggests fans should be "very, very patient."

"You look at Kevin Dorsey, Jarvis Johnson and Dupree (McBrayer), I think you're going to see what type of players those guys are when they come here," Pitino said. "Are there things that those guys can improve on? Certainly. Jonathan Nwankwo, he's going to grow. ... I just think it takes a little bit longer with big guys."

McBrayer, Johnson and Dorsey enjoy watching their future backcourt teammates and have exchanged text messages for a couple of months.

"We all talk about coming in ready for next year, and just having fun," Johnson said. "Mainly wanting to come in make a tourney run (next year)."
