1. Are the Gophers coming out of hibernation?
All it took was for Minnesota to fall completely out of the top 20 for the Gophers to start playing like they were expected to going into the season. Over the weekend, Minnesota hijacked No. 12 Michigan 6-2 and 2-0 to move into a tie atop the Big Ten standings. Kyle Rau got the party started Friday with a hat trick, and the third goal was a ringer from 50 feet out. Goalie Adam Wilcox finished things off with a 26-save shutout Saturday. Coach Don Lucia and his staff hope Wilcox is heating up at the right time, as this was his 11th career shutout. The win also pushed Minnesota up to No. 13 in the Pairwise rankings, while Michigan dropped to a precarious tie for 16th.
