Does anyone know why Rutgers has played so few games?

Ladies not playing well today. Down 5-1 in the 6th. Home plate umpire is really bad. Missed several plate calls and two Gopher ladies that got hit with a pitch.

Yep, I agree. Pinched Groenewegen on more than a few pitches, particularly in the first few innings. Totally missed Sara G. getting hit by that pitch.

Nice to see the ladies bounce back after the Michigan series. Really took care of business against a team that hadn't lost in conference before this weekend.

Down 3-2 in the top of the 5th against 1-12 MSU. The lefthanded MSU pitcher is making the ladies look like fools with the changeup. Girls....sit on the CHANGEUP!!!!!!!!!!!

Stober got the start in today's game. Went 2/3 of the first inning and Anderson replaced her. 1-1 in the 4th. Gophers with only 2 hits thus far.
Gophers score 4 in the 4th to go up 5-1.
Final, Gophers 7, Spartans 1. Anderson goes 6.1 and finishes the game. 36-7, 11-3.

Michigan (41-6, 14-2) completed a sweep of Indiana yesterday. Their Sunday game was moved to Saturday because of the threat of inclement weather. Today's Gopher-Spartan game start time is being moved from noon to 11 o'clock for the same reason.
Gophers are sitting at #16 in the RPI rankings. Ranked #13 in the USA Today/ NFCA Coaches poll and at #10 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll.

Groenewegen vs the freshman Bridgette Rainey today (she threw 160 pitches in the first game).

Gophers prevail 9-4. Groenewegen, 7 innings, 6 hits, 3 earned runs, 2 walks, 15 strikeouts, 1 HBP.
Parlich hit one out and Groenewegen with 3 hits.

Leads the nation in total strikeouts and sits right behind Groenewegen in strikeouts per 7 innings with 10.7 (Statistics as of April 16)

Bison currently sitting at 6-0 vs. B1G so far in 2015. Should be a pitcher's duel.

Bison currently sitting at 6-0 vs. B1G so far in 2015. Should be a pitcher's duel.

Bison have been receiving votes in the polls. They could crack the Top 25 if they win their weekend series at #21 South Alabama.

Wonder if this loss will put a hamper on the Gophers chances at hosting a regional. RPI is currently #18. They were #17 last year getting to host.

Krista Menke is from a small town west of Lincoln. I know her dad well. She and her dad learned to throw fast pitch from you tube videos when she was young. She is a very good pitcher.

Righthander Shayla Starkenburg handles the bulk of Iowa's pitching. She has thrown 203 innings, 226 hits allowed, 134 walks, 169 strikeouts. Started 31 of their 50 games and appeared in 41. Freshman righthander Ashley Yoways gets the other starts. 18 starts, 100 innings, 168 hits, 70 walks, 29 strikeouts. Megan Blank leads the team in most offensive categories, hits, home runs, runs batted in. Hawkeyes just coming off a 10-2 loss to #15 Missouri on Wednesday. Blank went 2-3 with a home run.

Their 2 major pitchers average 4.71 walks per 7 innings, and have a WHIP of 1.97. In contrast the Gophers pitchers average 2.14 walks/7 & have a WHIP of 1.27. OK, take out Sara G. and they become 2.15 and 1.65. With Sara pitching 2 games, big advantage to Minnesota.

Gophers take the first game of today's doubleheader 8-0 in 5 innings. Groenewegen tosses a 1 hitter and hits a home run.
Stober gets the start in the second game. Anderson replaces her with two runners on and no outs in the third inning.
Tyler Walker, shortstop, not in the lineup. Hasn't played since the Michigan State series. Anyone with info on her?

Gophers win game 2 8-0 on five innings. Stober & Anderson combine on a 3-hitter. Richardson, Meyer & Mackin with home runs, with Mackin's ending the game.

I saw Walker on crutches today between games.
