- Two basketball columnists who write throughout the season

You can donate through PayPal – here: http://www.gopherhole.com/page/show/383462-donate-to-gopherhole-com

or you can write us a check (please e-mail us at [email protected] and we will send you a physical address).

Anyone that donates more than $100 will have all ads turned off while you are logged into the message AND you will be entered into a drawing to win your own Floyd of Rosedale bronze pig, as provided to us by our friends at Rivalry Trophy! Thanks for your consideration and thanks for making GopherHole a fantastic place to share our passion for the U!

Jon,

Not sure why you keep thinking we are Sport NGIN. As we discussed on this board on August 13, we are a CUSTOMER of Sport NGIN. They are a software technology company. To run this site, we have expenses. One of the expenses is to pay for the web site, which Sport NGIN help build. As a customer of theirs, we have to pay them. You brought this up on August 13, we explained it to you then, and you replied with "Thanks for the correction GH admin." So, not sure why you are bringing this up again, and not sure why you think we are Sport NGIN, and not sure why you are bringing this up telling GopherHoler's to "consider the info" before donating.

We have had 12 different writers write for us in the last 12 months. We have given money to every single one of them. It's a modest amount, but we do it because we value their work and we think GopherHoler's enjoy reading their interviews and columns. In asking for donations, it helps us offset the money we pay them, as well as the money we pay Sport NGIN, our web hosting company, IT consultants, etc.

Unbelievable. I remember this idiot posting this a few months back and I just shook my head at how stupid he was, but now he's doing it again even after people explained it to him? Jon, are you like 10 years old or just don't understand how business works. Geez.

I didn't realize you posted this on all of our donor threads! Kudos to Sport Ngin....but that is not us. I think we've explained this a few times. Where is the confusion?

What people should consider before they're donating is accurate information - that we've been providing free articles, and a website to die-hard Gophers fans since 1996...and had the opportunity to become a paid site many times, but always stayed true to our model. We have a dozen or writers that work very hard, cover games, press conference, practices, recruits, etc. for little monetary reward, and do it for their love of the Gophers. All we're asking is that people consider donating to compensate these writers, and help with the cost of running the site. This is not a small website, we have to have the bandwidth to accommodate thousands of people online at once or 400K hit days.

With that being said, it's everyone's choice - just like donating to anything. If you like what we've done and appreciate being on here, feel free to donate. If not, that's why we offer you a free site.

Clear?

Donations are great; donate to The Current or MPR news or Channel 2 TV… I have no concern that those donations are being used to create a pay for use entity…

Go to the bottom of this GH page and read about sport ngin... click the terms of use and read some more...

I am not saying to donate or not to donate but pointing out the data available on the GH site...

You are so confused. Have you ever used Microsoft Office or Google Docs? You must be a billionaire, congratulations.

Or perhaps you are confused...

Prep sports at the Trib is powered by Ngin but still owned by Trib.

Here is the prep Trib site powered by Ngin as can be seen at the bottom of the below link...

If on that page you click the terms of use page the Trib still owns the site and content...

What an odd thread. Maybe Jon is wanting to know who owns GopherHole and how it is organized (tax status & classification) and under what legal name(s)?

The Sport Ngin crap might just be boilerplate that you'd find at a lot of sites that use their software/services.

This is an agreement between you ("You") and Sport Ngin (the "Company").

Lol. Google the first part of the phrase you are referencing above as proof of Ngin ownership. By your logic, you'd be amazed at what companies Ngin owns.

Including but not limited to:

Eagle River Recreation Center
Regency Hospice
Blaine Area Little League
St. Croix Soccer Club
Endeavor School of Arts
Delaware Junior Blue Hens

As GW said, it's boilerplate language for all of their sites.

Haha! Great find!! I stand by my original comment on Jon.

Jon, you might want to e-mail Piper Jaffray and let them know that Sport NGIN is lying to them for their financing. They are not in fact a sports technology web site company, but rather a holding company that owns GopherHole, a hospice center, an entire little league, a school and so much more. They are a mini Berkshire Hathaway!

Greetings. First time, long time. Thought this would be an appropriate time for me to jump in with my first post.

My name is Jim Dahline, director of marketing at Sport Ngin. I hope I can clear a few things up for everyone, so the good peeps at GopherHole.com can get back to creating incredible content for the passionate fans who make it one of the most heavily trafficked websites on the entire Sport Ngin platform.

First, Sport Ngin does not own GopherHole.com. We provide them access to a content management system, customer support, and general consulting. For those services, GopherHole.com pays Sport Ngin. They are a customer of Sport Ngin just like thousands of other sports organizations around the world.

Secondly, Sport Ngin manages a sports technology platform. You can visit our website if you'd like to learn more. Many of our customers pay us for a website content management system (just like GopherHole.com does). When their website goes live, we provide them with some content that they can use. Terms of Service and Privacy Policy are two of these pieces of content. Without turning us all into attorneys tonight, the data flows through Sport Ngin in many ways and we need to provide a TOS and Privacy Policy. If our customers want to create their own, they can absolutely do that (see Star Tribune example), but a majority of our customers are fine using the ones we've provided for their use. I can see where that can create confusion when trying to use the TOS and/or Privacy Policy to determine ownership of the website, and I'll make sure to pass this use case forward for consideration.

Lastly, If you have any questions about Sport Ngin in the future, feel free to reach out to me directly. I'm on twitter @jdahline and that's the best way to get in touch with me.

Now let's get back to what's really important. The team at GopherHole.com works their tails off and need a little help to make sure they can continue to do what they do in the way they do it. I believe the link to help out is http://www.gopherhole.com/page/show/383462-donate-to-gopherhole-com

Cheers, JD

JD great post. Thanks for putting Jon in his place, though we can only assume he won't believe you and will continue to believe only that Sport NGIN owns this site and every other site that has the same privacy policy.

Jim,

Thank you for your post and for clarifying our relationship. We appreciate our partnership and are excited for you and the significant growth that Sport NGIN has experienced - a true Minnesota business success story.

Jim,

There is one Jon here. The rest of us understand that gopherhole staff has a skill set that doesn't include webdesign. They have many skills but some things get outsourced.

Thanks for being a partner of GH
