I think its fun to have an All Things Thread for the top couple of recruits each year. With an offer list that includes Gophers, Ohio State, wisconsin and others, Coughlin's recruitment will be intense.

Gopher Hole: How about Minnesota? Obviously, you have a lot of family members who have had great success at Minnesota. What have they told you in the past about the University of Minnesota?



Carter Coughlin: My family, with my parents and grandparents and grandfather, would want me to go to Minnesota because they could come to all my games. That would be close to home. My family loves Minnesota. I love Minnesota. Minnesota is definitely going to be a top contender.

Kiss of death? It is like a good looking girl in HS that you asked for a date who said you are a really nice guy, but... The damn jocks always get the girls. :cry:

Big time motor on that kid. The shot of him destroying the double-team and getting the QB was sick. I think he's a better DL prospect than Jojo from those highlights.
 

Not until he commits to the Gophers he's not. :clap::clap:

Some people don't want that pressure on their kids and will encourage them to look around. I hope we get him as it would be a great get by this staff.
 

I feel like for defensive guys the UofM is starting to stand out as a great place to go. Look at the guys we have who are being touted as NFL talent right now! Knowing the coaches can develop and showcase guys on defense and get them to the next level has to be enticing for recruits. I hope Carter sees that and signs up!

Ryan Burns said Coughlin was on campus yesterday for an unofficial visit with his Dad. Long story short, hid Dad wants him at Minnesota, he's very comfortable with the program, wants to come back again to overnight/hang out with the team. It's a very encouraging interview.

Are we sure we want to recruit a guy who seemingly can't figure out how to put a chin strap on?

But really, he's wearing shoes that could easily pass for maroon & gold. He's a lock.

Both his parents played for the gophers like Maxx plus his grandpa was the AD here. Would be a huge kick in the balls to lose a guy like that.

I noticed that Carter favorited Tyler Moore's commitment tweet so that obviously means Carter will be a Gopher and he might as well just commit right now ;).

That does make me feel good however knowing that he did that for a guy thats not even in his own class or from this state or even region. I doubt they have ever talked before and the gophers would be the only connection they share.
 

Twitter favorites mean nothing, unless its consistently for one school only (ala Ohh_MOE)

He also said he's grown up a Gopher fan, gone to every home game since he was 8 y/o and said "that will all come into play" when he makes his decision.
