AP: Big Ten West team step up with impressive wins in league play

One of the prevailing notions heading into the season was that the Big Ten East Division could end up being a lot better than the West.

It didn't look that way last weekend.

Northwestern buried Penn State as road underdogs. Minnesota did the same to reeling Michigan in Ann Arbor. Nebraska continued its unbeaten start with a rout of Illinois and Iowa won its second straight road game.

Though it was a small sample size, Saturday's performances were encouraging for the teams in the West.

"They won some big games on the road, some big games at home on our side. It's going to be a very interesting next eight or nine weeks as we go through this season to see who comes out of that side on top," Wisconsin coach Gary Andersen said.

The Gopher bandwagon is gonna need some more racks on it.
 


Yup.....the west division looks like they may be as good if not better than the east. Coming into the season.......you could look at MSU and OSU in the east and argue that they had the best two teams in the conference. OSU is still good......but they probably aren't a top three team. You could have also argued that the west had the worst few teams in the entire Big Ten. Sure.....Purdue is pretty terrible.....but after NW took care of Penn State.....they move up. Seems like the east is all over the place while the west seems to filled with solid teams.
 



They funny thing is that Maryland and Rutgers could end-up in the top 4 teams in the East.
