Everyone says the East is so much better than the west. Let's compare the divisions in this thread. We can keep it going throughout the year.

Today's games:

Northwestern @ Penn State
Minnesota @ Michigan

Northwestern certainly cleaned up in happy valley. I dont like james franklin so that made me happy

East has a better ceiling. West is deeper.

better ceiling in that Mich St has playoff potential? Rest of the east looks much like the west. I'd say Nebby looks like the next best team thus far with Wisky being #3

2-0 West is the Best

BTW, if the West goes undefeated against the East, I will predict here and now MSU does NOT make the college football playoff.

Considering MSU has overlap games. That's a pretty obvious thing to say.

Yes. That's what ceiling means.

just curious as to how you were defining it, as I could argue that NE has a far better shot right now with zero losses and a win over Miami.

Today is one reason why I like divisional play. Whoever your favorite team is, always root for your divisional foes to lose the cross-over games. It was a good day for the West in terms of bragging rights (Gopher, Northwestern wins), but the teams who benefitted the most today were East favorites Sparty and Ohio State, as their divisional foes (Michigan, Penn State) both lost their cross-overs. ... and both were home losses.

Road teams 4-0 in conference games today. Nebraska likely to make it 4-1.

What to watch next week (West vs. East)

Michigan State has won its last 10 games vs. Big Ten opponents by double digits, starting with a 26-10 win over the Gophers to conclude the 2012 regular season. That's in jeopardy next week when the two most impressive Big Ten teams (to date) meet Saturday night in East Lansing.

Really rooting for MSU tonight. Any loss for Neb, Iowa or Wis helps the Gophs.

Thanks Some Guy. Hope you'll bump this with the updated list throughout the year.

There's a good possibility the west doesn't win another game until Rutgers@Nebraska. I can see Indiana going to Iowa and putting up points as well as Maryland doing the same at Wisconsin. The west won't have an easy time the rest of the way for certain.

I agree that's possible.

If I was guessing how it finishes I would guess 8-6 east.

It is 2-1
I see 2 games the east shouldn't lose and the other 9 games I think both teams at least should have a chance.

The toilet bowl next week is for all the marbles.

What stands out in that schedule is that there is only ONE game between high-end programs there: Nebraska vs. MSU. It's hard to believe that was intentional...I'm supposing these cross-over games - which it seems were intentionally set up to give the bigger programs easier matchups - are not repeatable for at least the next two years, right?
