West vs east (big ten)

Next year is the same schedule only flipped I am pretty sure

I think it is 5-4 west right now.

So through 1.5 seasons it is tied if you include the big ten title game.

The west holds its own against the east despite the media (BTN) narrative.

No way to know. Michigan over Northwestern was the only matchup of top teams.

Well the west has won more games
The likely east champion's only loss was to a west team.
#5 in the west Minnesota took #3 in the east Michigan to the wire.
#7 in the west lost to #1 in the east by 3.

My point isn't that the west is better. It is that anyone who tells you the east is head and shoulders better is clearly not observing what is happening.

There is an argument to be made that the top of the east is significantly better than the top of the West. But even that is a bit shot when Nebraska beats Michigan state.

Not flipped next year. Badgers play @MSU, @Michigan and OSU to start the Big 10 season. Should be fun.

Correct. The post I think you're referring to is from November 2014. Everything is different next year.

I am going to try to make a prediction on crossover games this year and see how close I can get. Coming soon.

I think schedule definitely favors the East this year, but it SHOULD be unbalanced because 14 of the 21 crossover games are in Eastern Stadiums. East has home field advantage this season, so hopefully nobody over-reacts.

Predictions
September 24:
Wisconsin @ Michigan State Michigan State Wins at Home, 1-0 East
Iowa @ Rutgers Iowa wins on the road, 1-1

October 1:
Wisconsin @ Michigan Wisconsin loses in another crossover, 2-1 East
Minnesota @ Penn State This is really a 50/50 game to me, I am an optomist right now so I will say Minnesota, 2-2
Purdue @ Maryland Maryland is bad, Purdue is worse 3-2 East

October 15:
Ohio State @ Wisconsin Going to give Ohio State this...I personall think Wisconsin goes 1-3 against MSU, Mich, OSU, and LSU...I am predicting for this activity they lose all 3 conference games but an upset wouldn't surpise me in one of them, 4-2 East
Northwestern @ Michigan State Michigan State wins at home, 5-2 East
Rutgers @ Illinois Lovie will have Illinois playing solid ball at home, 5-3 East
Nebraska @ Indiana I think Nebraska has a bounce back year, 5-4 East
Minnesota @ Maryland 50/50 game, I will give this one to Minnesota as well because I am a homer 5-5

October 22:
Indiana @ Northwestern Not High on Northwestern, but will give them this game, 6-5 West
Illinois @ Michigan Michigan will be Michigan at home again this year, 6-6
Rutgers @ Minnesota This is the crossover I am most confident in for Minnesota, 7-6 West

October 29:
Northwestern @ Ohio State No Way Northwestern wins, 7-7
Penn State @ Purdue Not high on Penn state, but Purdue is terrible, 8-7 East

November 5:
Illinois @ Michigan State Michigan State at home, 9-7 East
Iowa @ Penn State Chance for an upset here, but I will pick Iowa 9-8 East
Nebraska @ Ohio State In Lincoln I would give Nebraska a chance...not in Ohio, 10-8 East

November 12:
Michigan @ Iowa Tough game to pick, last year was Iowa's year....I will pick them again this year but I am not confident, 10-9 East

November 19:
Maryland @ Nebraska VERY confident Nebraska wins this game 10-10

November 26:
Purdue @ Indiana I felt bad picking Indiana in their previous two..I think they get this one 11-10 East

My Prediction game by game is 11-10 East...but I had 3-4 50/50 games I went with the West on. Probably between 11-14 wins for the East this year.

My predicted crossover standings:
Minnesota 3-0
Iowa 3-0
Nebraska 2-1
Northwestern 1-2
Illinois 1-2
Wisconsin 0-3
Purdue 0-3

Michigan State 3-0
Ohio State 3-0
Michigan 2-1
Penn State 1-2
Indiana 1-2
Maryland 1-2
Rutgers 0-3

Winners in Bold, I've got some upsets in there because not everything goes to plan, but nothing to earthshattering

Yeah it will likely be between 11-10 west and 13-8 East
4-6 games that will swing it.

Either the East is 2-1 on the road or West is 2-1 at home. This means that one or the other is 1-2. Unless you believe in Common Core math maybe. Guessing East is 1-2 road record to give the West an 8-5 edge. BTW, the East can go suck it.

Typo corrected. Thanks for pointing it out to me.

West is playing well. I think there is a chance the west only win 1-2 more the rest of the way though.

The top of the East is better then the top of the West by a pretty fair margin. Right now I would put Michigan, Ohio State, Wisconsin and Penn State in one tier. Us, Nebraska, Iowa, Northwestern and maybe Indiana on a good day in the next group. With Maryland, Rutgers, Purdue, and Illinois clearly bringing up the rear.
