Patterson when asked about his offense's progress: "I have no idea. We played Samford and then played a Big Ten team"

Tyrannosaurus #rekt

Basically true though. Conference needs to show it isn't just the MAC with a bigger paycheck, and hasn't exactly done that to date. Plus I'm sure it wasn't meant as a slight, knowing Patterson and Kill's relationship

means absolutely nothing as you can only compare to how your real opponents (the other B12 teams) are playing. You don't know your offense's progress until it's competing against teams built to stop you. Patterson is sure as hell not going to publicly bash a team coached by Jerry Kill

My guess is Patterson is saying that two games isn't enough to thoroughly evaluate how good his offense is. It's probably still working out some kinks like most teams are at this point. Anyone can take a comment like this out of context.

This. Plus he may be saying playing a Big Ten defense doesn't necessarily translate to playing Big 12 defenses given all the speed in that conference.

I take it that he feels they have not play a Big 12 caliber offense yet and has no idea how good the team is because of it.

He was also quoted as saying in the Big 12 they can't settle for three FG's.

I think our defenses speed compares well with other Big 12 teams. The problem we face is not seeing offensive speed like TCU's that often. There might be two other teams with similar speed that we'll face all year.

Ya, so many GH'ers take a part of a comment, overanalyze it, and truly make fools of themselves.

It appears that Miles Tarver, that glorious SOB, has some explaining to do. ;)

David Ubben (the "reporter" who took the quote out of context) is kind of an idiot. From a Fort Worth Star-Telegram blogger/writer (who, by the way, is universally hated by TCU fans):

Those two sentences alone went viral, and the Internet people thought Gary was making a dig at a power conference that has struggled so far this season; there are no Big 10 teams ranked in the top 10 in the latest AP poll. For GP to make a dig, he usually thinks about it. This was not a dig.

Gary sent me the following text message to clarify:

"Wasn't meant that way at all. I wouldn't take a shot at a best friend (Minnesota head coach Jerry Kill).
Only meant we have played two games period. Lots of football ahead - that's all I meant."

Believe him. This was a nothing.

From the context of the quote, it is clear he wasn't taking a cheap shot at the Big 10. With how the Big 10 has played this year, it is also clear that such a cheap shot would not be unjustified.

nuptials

Jerry was at CPs nuptials. doesn't this mean anything to anyone anymore! Best man got his pants pulled down. it happens.

Guys, let me try to put into other words what I believe Patterson was trying to say:

Patterson: "you want to know whether our offense has progressed? i have no idea. You see, Samford is an FCS team. As you know, FCS teams are a half step below FBS teams since they're usually smaller schools and less challenging opponents. Then we went up against a pretty darn good defense from the Big Ten in Minnesota. They have some very good players and were fairly high ranked in the FBS defensive category last year. So, our opponents were very different in caliber. For me to know if our offense progressed is to tough to say for that reason. We were going up against a stronger team in game 2. Now, had we played Samford two straight games, then I could honestly tell you if our offense progressed from game one to game 2. But frankly, I wasn't pleased with our 3rd down conversion rate and settling for field goals. We can't do that in the Big 12 and expect to beat the best teams".

Man, this just proved to me how many morons there are on Gopherhole. You guys are stupid beyond help. Do you finally see just how stupid so many of you are? You have no ability to think clearly or think for yourselves!

No better way to show someone's intelligence by calling people morons and stupid.
