WAITING FOR FOREIGN BIGS: The last two members of Minnesota’s 2014 recruiting class, Bakary Konate and Gaston Diedhiou, have still not arrived on campus this summer.

Konate, a 6-11 center from Sunrise Chrisitan Academy (Kan.), received a qualifying score on his SAT this summer to be eligible. But Pitino said both players likely won’t join the team until the fall. Diedhiou, a 6-9 forward from the Canarias Basketball Academy, is still in Spain.

Gophers coaches are also not sure what to expect from both post players yet.

“It’s hard to say right now because they’re athletes, they’re raw,” Pitino said. “Hopefully, they can develop over time. I’m excited about both. But it’s just tough to say right now until you’ve worked with them individually.”

If that video on the link doesn't tell you about our facilities "problem" I don't know what will. In college I hung my gopher blanket over the window because I lived on a 4 seasons porch and it would get light in the morning at like 5am and wake me up. That's what that reminds me of....

July 23, 2014

Golden Gopher men's basketball coach Richard Pitino met with local Twin Cities media Tuesday, July 22 to give a summer update on the state of his program as the Gophers start summer practices.

Pitino touched on a number of topics, including summer player development, the status of the team's revamped practice facilities, recruiting progress, the non-conference schedule (and status of the team's participation in the 2014 Preseason NIT) and much more.

It seems like the roster is under-listing the weight of alot of players.

I wouldn't be surprised if we tried to red shirt both of them. The key would be of our 4 and 5's stay out of foul trouble

Wow, staying out of foul trouble? No one ever thought of that.

Still looking for something in this thread about Hollins and expectations...

Not sure looking at Morris according to the below info he is really 177 but got rounded up to 180 on the roster page....

"Newcomer Carlos Morris has made the biggest strides physically, gaining 17 pounds since arriving on campus this summer. He showed up weighing 160 pounds.

Morris, a 6-6, 180-pound swingman from Chipola College (Fla.), is expected to replace departed senior Austin Hollins in the starting lineup.

You take the line 'he showed up weighing 160 pounds' to be 100%, to the exact lb accurate? I would not, these numbers get thrown around very loosely.

Martin said he was almost 6'-10", he is listed at 6'-8" on the current roster.

Not sure what is less accurate, the team provide roster numbers or numbers the kids throw out in interviews.

Not sure; Pitino does not seem as pleased with Mo's off season as last years.... Would have been great is Pitino were raving about Mo hitting the weights and add good bulk...
"
Last summer, rising redshirt senior Mo Walker lost nearly 60 pounds after new head coach Richard Pitino took him through workouts. The Gophers haven’t seen any bodily transformations that drastic leading into Pitino’s second season at Minnesota, but this summer still has seen an emphasis on conditioning. "

Dec 27, 2013 had Deandre at 165 and now Pitino is saying he gained 13 pounds; roster does not reflect that weight gain if the 165 was correct...

"Listed as 5 feet 9, he's closer to 5-11.

"You can keep it at 5-9, though," the Gophers junior point guard said recently. "Guys will underestimate me."

Based on his listed height and weight, the 165-pound Mathieu is the smallest player in the Big Ten.

As long as Mo hasn't gained the 60lbs back he is going to be a big part of the offense this year. Elliot will probably start but Mo will probably play more minutes.

As far as expectations for Andre, I think 16-17ppg is a reasonable expectation. If he really works on his lateral quickness, getting by defenders with the dribble, and finishing around the hoop. I could see him having a huge year.

Morris is at least 6-6 according to PP adding height on the outside should help on defending the 3...
