For those interested in more information about the Canarias Basketball Academy, here is a 10 minute video with interviews with the head coach/director and several players. The program appears to be geared towards improving the opportunities for foreign-born players to improve basketball skills and earn a scholarship without going the U.S. high school route.

The Canary Islands are a holding of Spain off the coast of Western Africa. It is equidistant between Spain and Senegal. Gaston Diedhiou is not playing in Spain as some have surmised. The CBA is purely a basketball set up to augment the technical skills of their mostly European players with the 'aggressiveness' of American players.

As mentioned on the Diedhiou thread, Seton Hall has hit the CBA a lot over the years. As some have surmised that the Pitinos like to recruit from programs, this might be the start of a future pipeline of foreign players coming to the U.

Sounds like Coach McHale might have had a little to do with Diedhou's recruitment.
