ESPN: A&M's Matt Joeckel headed to TCU

Joeckel could fill a huge need at quarterback for the Horned Frogs, who have struggled offensively since joining the Big 12. In its two seasons in the league, TCU has ranked no better than eighth in total offense, and missed a bowl last year for the first time since 2004.

This offseason, TCU coach Gary Patterson revamped his offense by bringing in co-coordinators Doug Meacham and Sonny Cumbie to install an uptempo, no-huddle attack similar to the one Joeckel played under at Texas A&M.

Eh. Played decent as a garbage time QB. So did T-Jack.

TXAggie can probably provide some insights on this matter. Although Joeckel is an upper classman, I'm wondering how effective he'll be early on in running the offense given that he missed spring ball? Hopefully, he gets on track following the non-conference slate of games.

Joeckel will be able to step right in to TCU's program and do well. He's a smart guy and talented athlete who would have started at a couple dozen other schools easily. He didn't get a ton of playing time, being second string to one of the most dynamic quarterbacks to play college football, but ahead of a talented young quarterback who Sumlin wanted to get experienced in a game. Matt is a solid guy, and this is a good move for him. I don't know enough about TCU's receivers and backs to know how they will perform.

ESPN: TCU's Brandon Carter arrested

After a breakout sophomore season in 2012, Carter was expected to be the Horned Frogs' top receiver last year.

Instead, he spent most of the season in the doghouse and finished without a touchdown catch after reeling in nine his first two years. Carter was also granted a temporary leave of absence from the team in November.
