Anas Osama Mahmoud Commits to Louisville

It seems Mahmoud has an ask account. There are a couple questions pertaining to Minnesota. He is also asked what would be the perfect city and he said weather was most important(no ice). because of that comment I'm not getting my hopes up. http://ask.fm/anosh33

And this (sent yesterday)....

Are you in Minnesota tomorrow? no, who said that :) ?!

ETA (two days ago):
I hope you enjoy your visit to Minnesota. Great education, great coach, and great people here. The whole state is behind the gopher program. How many days do you plan on visiting? only 2 days i have a games so i have to come back :)

I'm guessing he'll be here for the Illinois game.

and I got bashed for bringing up weather being a big factor with this kid... sometimes you have to look at things without your gopher goggles on folks

No I am not BigGopherFan lol. Just a big gopher fan who has been stalking this board for about a year and finally decided to join. I hope Pitino can reel this kid in but I get the feeling he's going to be a gator.

yeah, when florida offered I put them as the front runners for this kid

He'll come here because he and his family actually want him to get a quality education...

And atmosphere (Atlanta is a pit hole), coaches, playing environment, teammates.

If education is the main criteria it would be hard to compete with Georgia Tech.

No one would blame a kid from Florida for going to Florida. The point is that Minnesota has a lot to offer and a number of Egyptian ex pats that would welcome him.

I have a nephew doing his post-grad/doctorate at GT. He can't stand Atlanta.

What are your thoughts on Nebraska and Northwestern?

Atlanta gets more ice storms lately than we do. If he was there on 2/15, that would explain his comment about ice.

Also the Louisville board refuses to believe that Rick has passed Mahmoud off to Richard after one of them posted the article by Walters on their board. Take it fwiw but one claims he knows a team member of his and claims Louisville is very much in the mix. I think he's full of bs and Rick is helping us. Hopefully he likes slush and snow more than ice! Lol

Reading his answers on the ask account, I get the impression that everything he says shouldn't be taken literally.

I don't think Rick would have made the comment he did in that Charlie Walters article if he was still after Mahmoud.

In Arabic ice and snow is the same word, this is the likely explanation

More interesting answers from Mahmoud

Hopefully some of the snow melts with the 41 degree whether on the way tomorrow and early Wednesday before he gets here. I'm praying that the forcast holds up and stays in the 40s for his Wed/Th visit. A rockin' Barn for a win over Illinois would also be a great help for our chances of landing him.
