what?

The Carrier Dome is owned by Syracuse University and is on campus. Alcohol sales are allowed. There are a handful of schools that allow it on campus. I think Louisville does, too.

The NCAA encourages schools to not sell alcohol, but does not have a mandate.

The University of Minnesota could sell beer at TCF, the University of Wisconsin could sell beer at Camp Randall, the University of Michigan could sell booze at Michigan Stadium. But, they will not. Heck, the U won't even allow revenue-producing alcohol advertising on signs at the stadium or on the radio network. It is just the way it is. Legislation won't change that.

So we are worried about what the media might say if the Legislature passes a bill that is signed by the Governor which authorizes the U to legally sell beer to people who are legally entitled to drink beer. And furthermore, the selling of beer to adults at Gopher football games has already been occurring for over 25 years. Most reasonable people don't buy this kind of thinking. Most people outside of GopherHole do not see a problem here. Everybody understands this anachronistic policy is illogical and ineffective because college students can and do drink alcohol anytime the want. Sooner or later this policy will change because budgetary problems will cause colleges all over the country to turn over every rock trying to find additional revenue. And that is how it should be.

my god you sound like more and more of a lush with every post you make regarding this subject! it is getting pathetic to be honest. all this stupid proposed legislation will do is cost the U of M alcohol sales revenue from suites that they could have funneled back in to the athletic dept and/or the general fund of the university. all so a few stubborn lushes who think they actually represent "the common man" - you don't by the way - and who don't ever have any intention of paying for premium seating in the stadium can have some overpriced beers during the game.

yeah, upnorthgo4 we shouldn't let suite holders who are likely paying the U of M $40-50K a year have the opportunity to purchase some overpriced alcohol which further benefits the U of M's coffers should we? i mean how horrible would that be for the athletic dept and school?! wow i really hope it was worth it! as usual common sense is lost on some minnesotans and their politicians.

the U is not going to open up alcohol sales to general admission ticket holders so drink before the game or afterwards. just get over it already!
