All things Djuan Piper Thread - UPDATED 4/6: New GopherHole Q&A

A little concerned that Piper plans to visit Washington, Gonzaga, and Texas A&M after his visit to Minnesota this weekend. Even if the Gophers make a huge impression, their will be a long time between Piper's visit and his decision.

Sounds like he's going to be a Husky anways. I'm fine with that though, as Mahmoud is higher on my wish list at this time.

Who is going to be the first one to write "anyone reading this in the student section let's get a we want Piper chant going Saturday"?

Holy **** is Washington's arena empty as hell. They are playing Stanford on ESPN right now.

"Right now the Huskies are trying to wrap the trees in purple haze." - Bill Walton

Another example of why I love Bill Walton.

Another subtle weed reference from Walton while they were talking about Rivalry Week:

"Forget Tobacco Road, we got the good stuff right here in Seattle."

He also just went off about how it's Jerry Garcia vs. Jimi Hendrix, while discussing rivalry week.

It doesn't help us that one of Djuan's teammates is committed to Washington already...

He is committed for 2015 though. Who knows how that ultimately plays out.

Nice to know the Pitinos have a solid Seattle pipeline. That city produces a lot of really good basketball players.

I love that we're recruiting the entire nation. Tubby got guys like Cobbs, who I wish had stayed, but he didn't get in the door with the east and west coast kids very much. Pitino is getting in the door very well.

It seemed like Tubby picked areas to focus on (Memphis, Chicago). Was this just a strategy? Allocation of scarce recruiting time?

Could be. Maybe he didn't have the coastal connections that Pitino has. Tubby mostly recruited the south and midwest. Pitino has recruited everywhere so far.

Well if you ask Kentucky fans (and I am in this camp as well) Tubby and his staff were lazy recruiters. Problem when you hire your son and a group of sicophants.

Gotta use up those private jet hours!

The best analogy is Tubby was the sales guy a few years from retirement who wanted the nest egg to grow. These type of people aren't going to travel to drum up business but rather maintain the status quo.

Richatd is the young MBA who wants to grind his way to top, finding new customers and improving the business.

This is why Tubby signed the likes of Mav, Armelin, and Oto in the spring. Compared to Mathieu and what could be a tremendous talent in either Anas or Djuan this spring. This is why Richard makes statements like "we aren't going to sign someone to sign someone." Instead of being short handed one year, you suffer for four. Lord knows I have watching Oto and Mav with his tiny Daunte Culpepper hands.

Does it matter that Washington has already signed 2 wing players already? Sorry if this was already brought up.

Not sure anyone has brought that up, but you'd think it would if he wants to see the floor, the players they have committed aren't players piper needs to worry about too much, he has around the same talent as them, so with hard work he'd get himself in front of them on the depth chart, but it probably be wiser to go to a team who needs a wing player more.

Go Gophers!!

Great sign that he watched the game! I really hope he commits to the U.

Hopefully (in a sad way) he saw our bad wing play tonight.

Anybody have any idea when Piper will be taking his official to UW? Seems kind of odd that he hasn't taken it yet since he lives so close.

Based on Piper's latest tweets it sounds like the team is going to play in the tourney.
