Ra'Shede Hageman NFL Draft Updates, Projections, Analysis & More

I think it's hilarious how Marcus Fuller was saying last night on twitter that Hagemen "fell" out of the first round like he got snubbed. He didn't fall anywhere. A first round pick would have been a case of him being taken early. He'll go somewhere in the 2nd which is where an athletic beast with questionable technique should go.

Most mocks had him in the first and even with the questionable technique issues he was still the second most productive DT in the country with his 13 TFLs, 8 passes batted down, 2 blocked kicks, INT and fumble recovery. Much better then Jernigan, Nix or Tuitt put up. And of top of that he is maybe the second best athlete in the draft. He is absolutely got snubbed.

After Aaron Donald dropped to 13, I wasn't surprised that Hageman didn't go in the first round, DT just didn't seem to be a priority. I believe that will change in the second round.

All those teams that had him as a first round grade but had bigger needs or a higher rated did fall to them will be picking in round 2 where Shede will be a value pick.

If he isn't drafted in the second round...then you can say he fell. But I can see the Pats no taking him if he is there when they pick and in fact, I could seem them moving up to get him if need be.

He didn't get snubbed. Sorry.

I don't love it, but I could see him landing with the Bears. I think they really wanted Aaron Donald.

Houston with Watt and Clowney or the vikes would be the only team that i would want him to land. I don't know if either team will take him though and i don't think he ends up past that. I would hate to see him end up on a team like the redskins, raiders, browns or Jaguars.

Nice argument. Cover your ears and dig those heels in.

If you are projected to maybe get drafted in the late 20s or 30s. MAYBE. When you drop 5 spots to the 2nd round, you are not snubbed. He wasn't a top 20 pick. He's not even a top 25 pick. Do they project people to go between the 28-32 pick? No, they say things like late 1st - early 2nd. The homerism in here is astounding. He got passed up by the Patriots and fell 2 spots (maybe more). If he gets drafted before 42, he'll have fallen exactly where he was projected. If he falls into the 3rd round, then you can start claiming a snub. I'll even let you put on the Gopher goggles and claim a snub if he falls to late 2nd. My goodness.

Did you even hear his name last night? In any context (like possible options)? Because I didn't hear it on NFL Network.

And all this for a guy that takes more plays off than Clowney. It is so like Gopher fans to claim that the world is against them when the one draft pick we've had in who knows how long drops a couple of spots out of the first round. If you really think he got snubbed, then you don't have the right definition of snub.

I hope you meant "second best athlete..." at his position. But if you did in fact mean "...in the draft" that would most certainly be a no.

I mean if everybody was the same size he would be the second best athlete. He has the second best athleticism/size ratio. Its not a stretch in the slightest when you jump 35.5 at 310 and Bruce Feldman of CBS did rank him as the second best freak athlete in the NCAA as well.

Yo dude, you should go look at the combine numbers and find me 3 that tested better at their position for this year, and three that tested in the top 10 at their position compared to all players in the last 10 years because Shede's numbers were that good and St. Paul sucks.

Go Gophers!!

Congrats, 'Shede!

Per the U of MN:

Please attribute the following quote to Minnesota head football coach Jerry Kill on Ra'Shede Hageman being drafted No. 37 overall by the Atlanta Falcons.

"I could not be more proud of Ra’Shede, as he has worked tremendously hard to get to this point. It is a special moment that he will never forget, and I am glad that his parents, his high school coach Giovan Jenkins and Rebecca and I were here to see it. This is not only a great moment for him, but also for our program, the University and the state of Minnesota. The Atlanta Falcons are not only getting a relentless football player, but also a college graduate. Atlanta is a great fit for Ra’Shede and his best years are still to come. I know he will continue to work hard every day to represent the Falcons, but also the Gophers, as he pursues his NFL dream."

Think he was crying cuz he just got off the phone with Atlanta and then was hugging his Mother.

Yeah, I couldn't tell if he was pissed or overwhelmed.

Not that it really matters, but what did the announcers say about the pick? Was eating at a restaurant so couldn't hear anything.

Wanted to see Ra'Shede go in the first round, but it's impressive to go early second round as well. This is especially true if you consider that two years ago, Hageman was somewhat of a question mark. Atlanta got a hell of a player. Definitely a steal considering his physical attributes. If they have a competent d-line coach, Hageman will be in good position to be a major force.

Good luck, Ra'Shed. Knock ' em dead. I always hated the Falcons, now I LOVE 'EM!!!

What is Kill doing there anyway? I was under the impression that once you play your last game, he wants nothing more to do with you.

Jerry Kill is quintuplits. He is everywhere, richmondinsider even saw him with Shaka Smart.

Come on Atlanta! If you're going to pick a safety in the third round out of the Big Ten at least pick Brock so he can play next to Shede. Not a freaking Badger in Southward.

Go Gophers!!

I feel so special, I beat bleed by an hour. That will probably be the last time this happens.

(I posted this one page ago for those who can't figure out what I'm talking about)

Kill does care about his players. I hope we Kill it this year, pun intended.

Near end of 3rd round right now and Brock Vereen is listed as the best safety available on ESPN.

What is Kill doing there anyway? I was under the impression that once you play your last game, he wants nothing more to do with you.

That seems very out of character. What's the basis for your statement? It's a pretty ugly assertion.
