Why don't you think the Gophers could get Winfield? Boyd has a lot more suitors than Winfield does.

Winfield has the Ohio State blood and has caught their attention as of late. He is far better than his current two star rating. I certainly hope Antoine has a great time at the BBQ and falls in love with The U.

I see the Gophs finally offered Rakeem Boyd. He has a million offers and will probably stay close to home, but you never know. Just exciting that some of these elite players have Minnesota on their radar, we can certainly thank Kill & Company for the positive changes.

per Bedner:

Six-Foot-4 OLB Trims List to Eight

In no order, Mississippi State, Kentucky, California, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Minnesota, NC State and Boise State were the schools that made the cut and solidified themselves as realistic destinations for the Sunshine State native.

Below, Miller goes in-depth about each of his final suitors with Scout.

Minnesota: "They kind of came more recently and out of the blue, but after speaking with their linebackers coach (Mike Sherels) over the phone a couple of times, he just seems likes a really awesome dude. The Big Ten is a great conference and Minnesota is really awesome. I'm hoping to get up there as well, but we'll see what happens."

If the OL could make an in home visit...

Gonna tell Mr Attitude Tyler Moore no?

Is Carter on this guy?

Kinda neat to see 10 of the ESPN 300 are at least considering us. No idea what the probability is that any will come here, but it definitely shows the progress under Kill and Co.

Let's see... beating TCU & putting five players in next year's draft they may not be just sniffing. Instead, they may finally bite.

Crystal Ball flip watch: Feeling flip pressure at The Opening?

With more than 160 of the nation’s top prospects in one place this week for The Opening - and many of those uncommitted - there will be good amount of peer recruiting among the prospects. Some commitments aren’t safe either as five prospects at the event have recently received flip predictions on the 247Sports Crystal Ball.

Simeon Smiley, three-star CB, Pensacola (Fla.) Catholic
– South Alabama commit with two new predictions to Minnesota
Smiley likely won’t stay in the South Alabama class and he could land at Minnesota.

Pretty good offer list. Never heard of South Alabama, wonder what convinced him to originally commit there. Close to home, I'm sure that was a factor.

The South Alabama Jaguars play in the Sun Belt Conference. He committed likely due to location and that they were the only other team other than Army to offer at the time. Probably clicked with the staff and players, too.

Kind of interesting: Dan Meyer went on a Crystal Ball rampage at 247 today (Huff, Webber, and Calhoun -- Huff actually picked up two this afternoon), about a week before the BBQ. Hopefully there is something there. Meyer doesn't seem to Crystal Ball everyone willy-nilly like some others.

DeAndre Huff will probably be our next commit. He'll be at the BBQ next week, and wants to make a decision by the end of July. Supposedly he is/was close to getting a Georgia offer, but right now his best offers are us, Indiana, and Rutgers. We were only planning to take 2 WRs this class, so it will be interesting to see how it plays out if he commits.

We're still sitting good with Calhoun and Webber. Either one could commit by the end of the summer, or they might take a few other OVs.

Which recruiting prospects are going to be at the BBQ?

The Gopher commitments are in the summer doldrums. We need to have something to moan, b#tch, bicker, and get about in GH between now and the TCU game on September 3. :blah::blah::blah:

These guys are attending for sure, Daniels brothers, Coughlin, Antoine Winfield Jr., Kegel, Sam Schuleter, Olson and there are others. I'll continue to dig.

Here is who is visiting the BBQ, the one name name to keep an eye for is Huff, he is the most likely to commit during the BBQ, other than that it likely will be quieter year then previous years when it comes to commitments as most of the uncommitted want to take official visits to other schools before commiting

Commits:

QB Tony Poljan

LB Carter Coughlin

WR/ATH Phillip Howard

OL Sean Foster

OL Matt Kegel

OL Sam Schlueter

OL Conner Olson

DT JoJo Garcia

CB Elisha Daniels

S Elijah Daniels

LB Thomas Barber

Targets:
Illinois TE Albert Okwuegbunam

Georgia WR DeAndre Huff

Texas CB Antoine Winfield Jr

Georgia DB Tay Gowan

2017 Georgia RB Kurt Taylor

2017 Georgia OLB/DB Jaquan Henderson

2017 Georgia WR Jeremiah Holloman

4-star Louisville commit WR Desmond Fitzpatrick is someone to follow closely, hearing there is a good chance he flips to Minnesota. He is good friends with freshman Ray Buford, in fact, I'm hearing it was Buford that tipped the staff on to Fitzpatrick on his possible interest in Minnesota that lead the staff to offer. He has an official set up for the TCU game where Buford will likely be his host.

Okwuegbunam won't make it for the BBQ according to a post today by MJH on rivals.

Awesome. Thanks for the update.

He'd be a nice addition.

Thanks for the update GuyFawkes.

I hope that Quinn Oseland convinces his HS classmate Albert Okwuegbunam to join him in playing for the GOphers. He'll be a great one under Kill's system.

Love to see The Bank's crowd shout "OH-kway-BOO-Nam SKI-U-MAH, OH-kway-BOO-Nam SKI-U-MAH, OH-kway-BOO-Nam SKI-U-MAH!" everytime he scores a TD!

That name already already fits like a pair of golden gloves.

What about Tyler Johnson (ATH) from North Minneapolis HS? What is his status for the BBQ? For commiting?
