All Things Class of 2015 Recruiting - Class Finally Complete? Nope Chris Obekpa visit

This thread got way off topic. We deleted a number of posts that did not have to do with recruiting. Please keep the focus on 2015 recruiting, thanks for understanding.

No. Thank you.

Agreed, and I contributed to said derailment, however, I'll note that my statement was about recruiting not mary jane.

Side note, kid looks like a talent. The posted video is against a team that lacked some size. Would like to see how he faired against some beef and what his post moves look like. He certainly has the motor to get up and down the court and protect/score at the rim.

Akolda, Jarvis and Big Al would be nice haul for the class of 15. If Akolda and Konate are our two centers in 2015-16 than I think we will be just fine at that position. Course it will take a big effort from the staff to get all the names mentioned above to come here, but that's why Pitino's payed the big bucks.

Winnisota, I'm surprised you didn't catch him with Howard Pulley 2 summers ago in the EYBL (the team with Tyus, Quinton Hooker, Kyle Washington, Broman, etc.). Now that was a fun team to watch.

Anyways, on to your question. He looked great in spurts against bigger competition, so that isn't an issue. I watched him one game in the EYBL up against a guy who was 6'9, and he was awesome. He really gave the crowd a good game to watch. There was a sequence that game where he had a monster block on one end, and immediately came sprinting back step for step with Tyus on the fast break, where he got the ball at the 3-point line in stride, took one dribble, and finished with a flush. In that same game, he also got a rebound and started a fast break, where he smoothly took the ball down the court and dished the ball off like a PG to Jake Wright in the corner for a three. If he can be consistent, he has potential to be an EXCELLENT big man for the Gophers, or whatever team he chooses.

I've noticed that Allonzo Trier retweets all the tweets that Gopher fans direct at him, yet if you look at his mentions (tweeters will know what mentions are), he hasn't been retweeting fans of other college teams who send him tweets (Maryland Terps fans for example). At the very least, it's interesting!

I wanted to put this to the test, so I just tweeted at him. Sure enough, 2 minutes after my tweet, he RTed me. LOL. Pretty cool. He must be interested

I find it amusing that you guys think smoking is the only baggage I'm talking about. I'd be eliminating a lot of recruits if I were that concerned about smoking. Maybe he has grown up the last year or two, but there was a lot more going on than smoking previously. If he has figured things out, great. Talent has never been the issue with Akolda.

Exactly. Hoping Pitino does his research and finds out he's grown up. Would love to have his talent on the team.

Manyang's JUCO coach at Indian Hills just accepted an assistant job at Arizona State (the position vacated by Eric Musselman by the way) and the Sun Devils were already bringing in one of his teammates this year. I'd expect the Sun Devils to be major players for a couple of Indian Hills kids next year as they have a bunch of guys including Manyang that project as high major kids.

That was one of the questions, what else was he in trouble for? I suspect Richard will do his homework and all we can do is trust his judgment either way.

Derek Piper from the Illinois 247 site says the Gophers are showing interest in PG Luwane Pipkins

Kids best reported offer so far is UMass, but judging by this short video I'd expect him to rise up the recruiting rankings.

Can we please get the negative Elijah Thomas news out of this thread's headline? Dude doesn't want to be a Gopher? Fine, but let's not dwell on it for a month afterward.

That was fast! Thanks for the stellar customer service. :)

According to Verbal Commits, Nate Grimes a 6'8" SF from Desert Pines NV, is on Sir Richard's radar. ESPN has no BIG schools listed as interested. A few schools such as SDSU, USC, NM, Col state etc....

I know the gophers are out of the running, but Duke offered Henry Ellenson yesterday, which will make it a little harder for the badgers to get him

Yes, so i hope to God, Master Henry chooses any college program other than Becky!

I will be shocked if the Ellensons don't try to parlay Henry's elite status into an offer for Wally as well. Should be interesting to see what transpires in the next few months.

It probably won't happen, because personally, I think Henry goes to Duke, but I would be intrigued by the prospect of Wally walking on at TT, sitting a year, TT signing Henry and they both play for Tubby. Contrary to things I have read here, my understanding is the Ellensons actually got along quite well with Tubby. I would love to know if Tubby spoke with the Ellensons when he was down at the Wisconsin State tourney. TT has a top 10 ranked track program as well.

I could see Wally going there to play. I don't think Henry ever would however. But what do I know

I doubt Wally gets a D1 offer.
