Go Gophers!!
Nobody can complain about his offer list.

Great news. Would be a really nice addition. I wonder what a commitment from him would mean for Carlberg?

They don't call them the Big Uglies for nothing! ;)

Seriously though, Carlberg and Oseland would be a hell of an O-line class to what we already have. We could say we beat out Oregon twice, MSU twice, Ohio state, Penn State and Oklahoma State and many more plus all the BCS offers Steiber had.

+1 You read my mind.

I had a few of my Bison Fan friends tell me what a joke the offer is because we are awful in the B1G Ten. Then proceeded to tell me how we'd never go .500 again in the B1G Ten. Keep in mind, these are heavy bandwagon Bison fans and their football knowledge is quite low. I had to inform them of our record last season and they had to "google it" because they didn't believe me. But, with this particular group of fans, it didn't surprise me that they make dumb statements without doing any research and have no idea what they're talking about. It is a pretty consistent thing that they do. But, I also have two friends who are Bison fans that are also quite knowledgable about college football. But, they are definitely in the minority when it comes to that. Oh well.

We'll see how funny it is when Johannesson commits to the U (assuming Nebraska doesn't offer).

Maybe our staff wants him to fill that mauler type roll that the Iowa back( forget his name) was so successful with against us the past year. We really don't have that load of a back coming up, Williams is big but hasn't been consistent in such a role.

Middle linebacker otherwise
Williams is fine in the "load" role, what has kept him off the field are things like blocking and pass protection.

Also Ray Buford is the fifth best 3 star corner on scout. He is #44 and the last 4 star corner is ranked 39th. Didn't realize how high that was.

Something's not quite right about that Charlie Rogers date. You can't take OVs until after the season starts.

I thought the same thing. Maybe recruits can take OVs the week of the 1st game?

I thought the rule was that recruits can take official visits once their school year starts. Rogers may very well start school by then.

So, does anyone know why Ryan Schlichte doesn't have any offers other than Mankato State? Seems weird for the #3 prospect in the state and 3 star QB. Am I missing something?

He was actually downgraded from a low 4* at this point last year. According to his Hudl profile, he doesn't have prototypical pro-QB size at 6'1" 208 lbs. nor eye popping athleticism ala Johnny Manziel. I wonder if recruiters are shying away from him do to his physical shortcomings.

I was wondering that too and since his only offer is Mankato i was wondering what the possibility of getting him as a walk-on would be. He is rated awfully high for a walk-on and it would be even bigger than stealing Perra.

Or maybe the recruiting "experts" missed? :p

What kept him off the field, was an off the field incident as I understand it. One usually doesn't drop off the face of the planet like he did over blocking assignments when we're winning games. Your snaps can get pared back, they may stop using you in certain situations, etc. Williams went from being a major contributor to not getting a single touch for weeks on end, or even being allowed to travel with the team. Nobody's saying what he did, but it took him quite a while to climb out of Kill's doghouse. Kudos to him for sticking it out & not transferring because I'm sure it would have been easier.

I hear ya Dpo. Gobi from 24/7 tweeted to someone he is being recruited as a RB. But, given his size, MLB is certainly a strong possibility.

He's been very specific that he only wants to play RB in college. If it's not an RB offer, he's not interested regardless of who offers.

Still, he wouldn't be the first guy who said that, ended up 6th on the depth chart & decided he'd rather see the field at another position.

John Kelly's crystal ball is now 70% MSU with Goblirsch, Matt H etc. changing it as well. Another guy changed his Minnesota prediction to Illinois for Oseland and Steve Wiltfong changed it to foggy. We could now go 0 for 3 on Carlberg, Kelly and Oseland and lose out on Seth Green who's CB has been trending to Oregon. Not a good day.

Just a bad day to be a gopher

Ryan Burns is saying that he hasn't heard anything to make him think Kelly will commit to MSU on the visit, though they push for him to. Also, we are primarily recruiting him as a S as well, not a RB.

Edit: as for the Crystal Ball stuff. A lot of that I'm sure is because he is visiting MSU. Many times those guys change it to who is being visited, just in case they commit on the visit. NY guess is that if Kelly leaves uncommitted you will see many switches back to us. FWIW Burns thinks the Gophers still hold the slight edge over MSU.

Do you know if he has an official visit scheduled to MSU?

I think I misread some things in the GI thread. I thought it said he was visiting MSU this weekend but it looks like they are just expected to push for his commitment this weekend... my bad. However, Kelly is visiting Minnesota unofficially from the 12 to the 17th, right in the middle 9th his hs football camp.
