All Things Jashon Cornell Thread: Cornell commits to Ohio St

@SWiltfong247: Five-star DL Jashon Cornell's best relationships are in the #BigTen. He mentioned #PennState first on Saturday (VIP) http://t.co/doCLqKuUIw

Not sure what James Franklin is selling to all of these recruits. And I notice Cornell bring up the SEC multiple times, saying Penn State now has an SEC staff and a reason he's interested in MSU is because they're defense allows them to compete with the SEC. Yawn. The SEC love is over the top among all of these top recruits. It's also strange that a reason he's still interested in Iowa is because it's close to home, yet no mention of Minnesota. Oh well, it's been known for a while Jashon isn't coming to the U.

Oh I see what he's doing...the Gophers will rise from the dead and make his top 10 after not being in that "top 9" before.

Yawn, sick of this dram with local kids. Cancel the Easter egg hunts Cornell is listing his top ten.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but when the tweet came out about his top 9, he clarified that it was the schools who were pursuing him the hardest, not his favorite schools. If I read into it correctly, it was the conclusions that Gopherholers were jumping to that created drama, not anything he did.

I'm not saying he will come here, but I don't know if he publicly wrote us off as many people had thought. We will find out how the top ten compares to that top 9 soon enough.

#25 on 247 w/ composite 38. Overall 5 star rating. Heavy ND crystal ball.

Just for updates

per ESPN:

Sam C. from Fargo, N.D., writes: Hey, BB, I was just thinking about the Gophers and recruiting and how one of the best in the nation is right here in our home state in Jashon Cornell. Is it a dream for me to think we have any shot of landing him? Getting Jeff Jones was nice, but even in the last couple of weeks no one thought we would get him, saying that he was gonna go to the SEC. Just wondering what your thoughts are. Thanks!

Brian Bennett: It would be an enormous coup for the Gophers and Jerry Kill to keep Cornell in their backyard, Sam. Too many top-level prospects (Michael Floyd and Seantrel Henderson as the most prominent examples) have left over the years. Kill and his staff have been working hard to build a relationship with Cornell, but they're going to be competing with not only the best programs in the Big Ten for his services but also many of the best in the country. The facilities and traditions at some of those places will be hard to top. It's crucial that Minnesota has a good year this season to show Cornell that staying home has its perks.

Go Gophers!!

Ryan Burns said our chances with Cornell are less than 1%.

That's really all that needs to be said.

Go Gophers!!

Yes, he did.

He clearly said Fargo, ND, may be he's a Minnesotan living in Fargo hence the our, would you want to identify yourself from being from the **** state known as North Dakota?

Or maybe he was using "our" because he's a gopher fan and it's our team?

Maybe the "our" was a reference to the state Minnesota being the University of Minnesota's home state but not necessarily his own home state.

Cornell is going to go to ND like a classic CDH kid. We should stop talking him up on here because he is probably sitting there holding out for our "hope" that we will get him. He probably hasn't announced yet just so he can read these posts and feel even better about himself ("#1 prospect on ESPN no longer, however"). He clearly doesn't buy into the program like Jeff Jones does. He will probably wind up going to ND and being a later draft pick than our DLinemen (just as Rashede > Tuitt). I am sure Jerry and Co. aren't losing sleep over JC's ignorance in already eliminating the U. He gon' learn if he plays us in the B1G. Don't give him the 1% attention he wants because there is <1% chance he commits here. If I am wrong (which I hope I am), you are all welcome to rip on me 4 lyfe. But from what I hear I doubt it. Let's focus on he realistic recruits (Schmidt, Carlberg, etc.). Go Gophers!

Hey, Sam C. - Fargo isn't in Minnesota.

I lived in Fargo for nine years, and I came to believe that everyone in Fargo is either from the Cities or used to live in the Cities. It's amazing how many people used to live in Golden Valley, Roseville, and Richfield.

I doubt he commits here but i would be surprised if we didn't make his top 10.
