All seriousness though regarding a new starter - Im impressed with his arm, throws a nice ball. Has been a tad too high on the freakout scale / too low on the decision making scale under pressure though.
 

Yea fairly typical of a brand new starter especially when people are used to Cousins being back there for 10 years. It is kinda weird though watching MSU without Cousins running the show.

Finding a good QB is a problem for everyone. Sure, Gray isn't Joe Montana, but look around the Big Ten. I think our coaches do a great job of putting him in good spots. If he hits 2 of the 3 wide open streaking WR's for TD's, we win 31-17, and he goes 19-30 for about 340 and 4 TD's and we're talking Heisman,

Yep, a guy (Maxwell) making his first career start vs. a program that is 73-6 over the last 6 seasons and he struggles in that first start, yea, let's just bench him him right away because he doesn't light it up.

Michigan State won this game exactly the way a lot of rational folks would have figured. ... they won because their defense held up their offense and because of Leveon Bell (and Dion Sims). That's the way it's going to be for Sparty until Maxwell gets his feet wet. He'll be fine. There are much easier ways for a QB to get his first start than playing Boise State in front of a national TV audience.
