Official 2012 Gopher Fall Camp Thread: Updates, Analysis, Links, etc.

Well when the article first was posted caption of the picture of Ed Olson said "Matt Olson". So it was just a name on his mind, apparently...

1500: Breaking down the Gophers K/P: Punting unit desperate for improvements

Jerry Kill's take on ... the "U" punters

"We'll have a lot of competition at punter, because we're going to make sure we're better in that phase, because it cost us a lot of yards and we expect to be better at it. From protection to snapping to punting the ball, we've just got to be better at it."

Go Gophers!!

Is it just me or are there fewer practices open to the public than last year? From a fans standpoint, it seems kind of counterintuitive that the only public scrimmage is behind held on a weekday morning.

Minnesota Football Preseason Practices Open To The Public
August 4, 10:25 a.m. - Practice #1, Gibson-Nagurski Complex
August 5, 10:25 a.m. - Practice #2, Gibson-Nagurski Complex
August 6, 10:25 a.m. - Practice #3, Gibson-Nagurski Complex
August 7, 10:25 a.m. - Practice #4, Gibson-Nagurski Complex
August 8, 10:25 a.m. - Practice #5, Gibson-Nagurski Complex
August 9, 9:10 a.m./4:40 p.m. - Practice #6/#7, Gibson-Nagurski Complex

I don't remember actual public scrimmage but I am quite sure it was longer. If I had to guess I would say that it was at least two weeks. I do remember going three practices and there was at least four or five days between those practices.

Could be that they have to spend less time working on fundamental aspects and can get into game planning earlier this year, meaning they're closing the practices earlier.

Didn't they add some open practices after things got started last year because it was pretty popular?

Fundamentals got me thinking about the following...

"You 2 going to go in a dance contest?!" :)

What happened to Gopher Football Webisodes? I think they should bring it back.

What happened to Gopher Football Webisodes? I think they should bring it back.

Hopefully they begin with the start of fall camp

The Webisodes were produced with a major donation by the Goal Line Club, at the request of the football program and Coach Kill. The football program has asked that the big 2012 donation be spent on additional heated benches and specialized exercise equipment. I think last year was a "PR" year, and this is a "hardware" year. The money is spent 100% at the request and discretion of the football program.

In case you wonder what the GLC has contributed to over the years...

2010 Contributions
2009 Signing Day Event
Equipment Room Storage System
2010 Senior Banquet
3 Penny Films Video Production
140 Leather chairs with tablet arms in the team film room

TOTAL AMOUNT = $109,963.56

2009 Contributions
2009 Signing Day Event

"You don’t want to get a bunch of hodgepodge things that don’t fit into your [system]. "

Remember when TB used to always say this? :)

:)

I think he preferred the virtue of 'variety is the spice of life'. Sucks for a football team but he didnt know or agree with that.

Your comment sparked a question in me. Should Minnesotans doff their caps when singing the Rouser? Have they ever (like a hundred years ago)?

#Gophers I don't know why but I have a sneaky feeling that @goldengopherqb5 is going to make a run at B1G player of the year! #uncommon
