I found an interesting series of articles from Brian Floyd of the Washington State sbnation blog. It gives a unique look at the rebuilding efforts of a program in a comparable position relative to the rest of their conference. After reading the series and considering Kill's past turnarounds, it is becoming exceedingly clear that our rebuilding project will more likely resemble Wazzu (4-5yrs away, and counting...) than a WI or IA (2-3yr project). If you have some free time, it is worth the read.

Thanks for the links and the information. And I agree, it looks like Coach Kill will do things his way and is willing to blow up the current program and rebuild it his way.

Thanks for posting this along with the links! It's very informative and gives us a realistic perspective of where we're at and where we're headed. It's almost like looking into the future and reinforces the notion that Kill and staff are using the right approach.

but i wanted stanford's rebuilding process

Yikes, what are they in year 5 of the rebuilding process and they could end up with 5 wins.

The irony here is that I recall an ESPN article comparing WSU in year one to us in year two under Brewster, how it could be turned around quickly. To be fair, it was published before the wheels came off.

The Cougs are 3-2 with one marginal victory against CO and the other two wins against very marginal opponents. They just lost to a very bad UCLA team. I'll be surprised if they get to a bowl game. If they don't, this is a sad example of how to rebuild a program.

I don't think you understand the problems that program had just a few years ago.

Interesting read, though it could have used one concrete example of forward progress.

Remarkable parallels with Kill in terms of breaking down in order to build up, but he's 6-32, with three seasons so disastrous that he'd be fired here (multiple blowout losses and very few wins). I think the reporter may be jumping the gun in terms of this program being turned around in its fourth year. They lost to a mediocre UCLA team Saturday and are 2-3 so far, with the tougher part of the schedule yet to come.

If I'm not mistaken, they went to the Rose Bowl in 1999. The fact they're where their at tells me it is a bad example of how to do things.
