I saw this little tid-bit:

In the closing seconds of regulation, Denfeld’s Ben Hayes hit a turnaround jumper from about 16 feet that appeared to be the game-winner, but referees ruled that he attempted the shot from within the 3-point line.

Cloquet (11-8, 9-0) then hit 4 of 5 free throws in overtime to seal the victory. Cloquet’s Chad Calcaterra scored 33 points and also had 13 rebounds for his 13 double-double of the season.

The Lumberjacks moved into a first-place tie with Superior with the victory. Denfeld fell to 8-11, 3-6.

Go Gophers!!

Did Cloquet play a tough nonconference schedule? Or is the conference in that area really really weak? To be 9-0 in your conference and 11-8 overall almost seems impossible.

Cloquet is absolute garbage... they actually have another 6'10" kid on the team as well besides Calcaterra, but he doesn't do much. Their guards are awful, Calcaterra has to help bring the ball up the floor sometimes. Cloquet has Calcaterra and one other decent player, Ra-ra Jones who is an athletic wing type player. All that needs to be said is that they lost to Blake, who is currently 6-14 in the Tri-Metro conference. I'm betting that their conference record is because their conference is awful.
