Majerus always amazed me at Utah. When his team was trailing and they needed to foul someone on an inbounds play. If the opposing point guard was an excellent free throw shooter, they would double him and allow the person who sucked at free throws (or freshman) to catch the ball and they would foul him.

He would also "force" a pick setter/rebounder to take a open shot from the free throw line area, by having the guy guarding him back up five feet. This would barely hit the back board.

I am totally confused by the need to double the post every posession, no matter if the guy is an all-american or a career backup. This leads to wide open three point shots way too often. The caliber of defense Sampson plays doesn't require a double...it makes for easy offense.

Somebody needs to watch some old Majerus tapes.
