I agree. You take the guys ready to commit, especially if they are the caliber of Winter and Evans. Hopefully the program gets to a place where the recruits are concerned about having a spot.

It would be great to have Christie, Winter, and Evans. Evans seems like a program changer. I’m not sure we have scholarships left after that if Chatman is still interested. Leaves us short at PG but maybe some combo guards have those skills. But not a true PG. I know Cooper may only be here one...

Looking forward to hearing about Winter’s visit and hopefully commitment soon! It will be very interesting to see what we do with our remaining scholarships.

How are people feeling about this class? I really like how we are doing with Winter, Christie, and being in on Momcilovic and even Pierce before he committed. I’m getting nervous about Chatman and not sure about our PG situation.

Serious question here. Is it more important for the staff to have relationships with AAU coaches or with high school coaches? I would assume both but have heard that the staff has great ties with the high school coaches. And I would think Ben is good at developing relationships with the recruit...

I kinda felt the same thing and was figuring that it was more information that wasn’t really insider and not in depth, which maybe was the few that I listened to and also related to him doing them daily. I’ll keep listening though.

For sure. I like the weekly coaches ones and do Grimm’s with certain guests. I loved the dedicated basketball ones. Who knows, maybe when they start winning more there will be more interest.

I agree. He is talented, a good shooter, and has good size. Maybe he was buried last year due to defense, but the guards on UNC played great down the stretch. And I would be very excited about Walton not just because he is from Minnesota and that makes him better than all the other transfers...

Very true. I generally think most of these guys want to play professionally and they need opportunities to show it, which maybe seems less likely for him at UNC. I wouldn’t be surprised if he transfers and I would hope he strongly considers the Gophers.

Caleb Love returning to UNC which hopefully convinces Walton to come home and be a big piece for the Gophers.

You are right, it will be awhile before we get to make more solid opinions on comparing the two. Pitino had a lot more to work with his first year though. Feels like things are looking up and I felt like it was the right decision to let Pitino go and hopefully Ben was also a good decision.
