Gopher Basketball Portal Money - $1 Million

Just a guess but individual football players are probably getting way less than what we are hearing even marginal basketball guys are being offered. Another factor is probably the athletes themselves. Football is a team game whereas basketball is far more focused on the individuals.

Gopher Basketball Portal Money - $1 Million

It's actually an interesting idea......would be a tough sell to get the fanbase to support the crap teams up until you decide to spend money, plus you would have to have boosters willing to keep building up the stockpile of money for the year you are going for it. But if you had a massive pile...

Oregon transfer Brennan Rigsby commits to MN

sure....but until we know if he is actually going to be the primary PG it is kind of silly to worry much about it. As I said a few posts ago my bet is he is being viewed as more of replacement for Carrington than Hawkins but I guess time will tell.

Oregon transfer Brennan Rigsby commits to MN

But being negative is the basketball board way. :)

Way-too-early ranking of Big Ten quarterbacks ahead of the 2024 season (6. Minnesota)

So looking at all 18 teams 7 of their projected starters are transfers in year one at their new school including 4 of the top 6 on their list. 2 of their projected starters are true freshman 7 are guys who were with their team last year (some of those were transfers from the year before) 2...

Rashod Bateman gets extended in Baltimore!

Great for Rashod, his pro career hasn't really taken off yet through his first 3 years but hopefully he can keep grinding and become a bigger part of their offense over the next few.

College Basketball Transfer Portal Thread - 2024

I mean I guess at least they are trying to bring a little bit of sanity to things. If they actually enforce the May 1 deadline for entry than at least teams will know who they have on their roster for sure as they try and fill the empty spots. But yeah....someone will probably sue because...

Georgia WR Tyler Williams has committed to MN

The portal itself isn't the problem. The portal is just the tool players can use to make it known they are looking for a new school. The problem is unrestricted free agency combined with unregulated pay for play. Those are the things that are leading to so many players deciding to transfer in...

Oregon transfer Brennan Rigsby commits to MN

Or this kid is more a replacement for Carrington and they are still looking for a true PG to replace Hawkins.

    Disillusionment

Not sure referencing the Brewster time is going to make anyone feel better about the state of things :) That said, if Johnson is not able to get things turned around next year his tenure will very much resemble Brew's in that he was a first time coach put in a tough situation who wasn't ready...

Andrew Trout, 2026, 6'6" offensive tackle commits to Gophers!

Very nice to get an early commitment from a kid who is likely to be one of the top Minnesota kids in 2026. Local kid as well so that greatly improves the chances it will stick.

Georgia WR Tyler Williams has committed to MN

Until guys step up and prove they can get it done you have to keep looking for and bringing in other options. QB was a mess last year but the WR didn't exactly shine either outside of Jackson. Hopefully some guys step up whether that is guys that were already on the roster or some of these...

    BREAKING: Elijah Hawkins to transfer

lol....If you want to pretend like other schools aren't losing starters that is on you. I am not going to waste my time pulling together readily available examples of other starters leaving for you. I'm not pushing a specific narrative but I know that is your thing to always look for or...

    BREAKING: Elijah Hawkins to transfer

I know.....but I really wanted to give him another chance....it seemed like he was doing a little better..... :)

Reggie Bush is getting his 2005 Heisman Trophy back, ESPN has learned, with a formal “reinstatement” of the trophy coming today.

Don't really understand the line of thinking that because what he did then is legal now he should no longer be punished. What they did was still illegal at the time, doesn't matter if now that feels like child's play, they were still breaking the rules back when the NCAA was still pretending to...
