I know this is football but the point remains. Kids are happy at a place and the big boys just call anyway. The ncaa is to weak, fragile, stupid to stop this but this should not be a thing. Suspect this happens A LOT.

I honestly can't think of 1 reason you would take a kid who is going to redshirt. You get nothing that year, and the way FA works, if that player is worth anything they are getting 100000 offers to leave, and if they are terrible then you keep wasting a spot. Literally a total lose lose.

The one he played 43 minutes has 0 points 0 assists 1 rebound and 3 fouls? As a 9th man sure, but CBJ will probably play him 38 min a game. Losing 2 starters maybe a 3rd plus 2 bench guys and very little to replace that....ohh joy what an offseason

This! The ncaa/universities are coating their pockets while essentially forcing fans to pay for the players and then blaming us if it didn't work! It's one of the greatest scams in history!

I wanted to not reply because you just torpedo every topic here but I think this topic is interesting so here we are. Where I think you are correct. You could have a high end coach at a great program and you are 100% going to lose kids to money at some point. There is not a coach out there...

I agree with this. I also wonder if some schools will then forgo certain sports to load up in others. Why would UConn even bother with a football team, do that take that money and have top end other sports.

It's gross but at this point you need to be contacting every kid on every lower level team and offering them $$. Hey kid I know you like Samford/Liberty/old dominion etc but we can offer more here. It's all slimy but I guess it's the only way to play?

For everyone asking, it's illegal for the school (coach) to contact a kid yes, but there are 0 rules about an NIL collective or individual contacting the kid or his agent. It is without a doubt as slimy as it gets but again technically not illegal. And as much as this is on the kids, it's also...
