If Mitchell Jr., Hawkins, Ola-Joseph, Garcia, & Payne all return next year...we could be good.

Still really hard to predict where this year’s team will end up, but perhaps we’ll see a repeat of the 2016-17 team into the following season (ideally without the collapse). The year before, they had a 2 win Big 10 season. 2016 comes along and they get HOT in conference play to finish fourth...

    CFP predictions

Strength of Schedule has an inherent bias, especially when it comes to the SEC. I will always contend that the middle to bottom tier of the SEC are among the worst in the entire Power 5. But those teams are considered better than they are because they're in the SEC, which leads to SOS ranking of...

Six years ago today the Barn was rocking! 10 Miami vs. 12 Gophers

Pitino's issue was that his offensive strategy was to simply force the ball to his best players at all costs. Sometimes, those guys played well enough to get the Gophers into the Top 25. But the lack of any identity prevented his teams from achieving any long-term consistency. I'm seeing the...

    BREAKING: ATHAN IN THE PORTAL

PJ did at least show that he was willing to throw the ball more often when he had the talent at receiver in 2019.

Post Game Thread: OSU Blows Out Minnesota

I hope I’m reading this wrong- are you acting like that’s an accomplishment? 13-0 is a fairly standard halftime score for an elite team against a mediocre team- it’s almost always the second half when the blowouts solidify.

***OFFICIAL MISSOURI AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

He was playing a really solid game on the defensive end. Just brutal for him, and a terrible call by Johnson when he clearly wasn’t feeling it on offense.

***OFFICIAL MISSOURI AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Someone needs to count the number of possessions in the last 10 minutes that have involved the entire shot clock with zero passes. It’s inexcusable.

Free throw numbers are up this year, time to find out if they’re up when it matters

I’ll admit I was totally wrong

Because Athan has gotten more opportunities to throw the ball than Tanner did in 2021 and 2022. 2021: 19.8 attempts/game 2022: 21.6 attempts/game 2023: 23.1 attempts/game Athan’s passer rating (per Sports Reference) this year and last year are both worse than any year that Tanner had. Tanner’s...

I’ll admit I was totally wrong

I was a Tanner defender until the bitter end. The Mike Sanford offense was a massive part in his regression. He was a rhythm-driven quarterback: get him a few easy slants, and he’ll start making some very impressive throws. Sanford never gave him that progression like Ciarrocca did. Yeah, Tanner...

Post Game Press Conference Video: “It’s all on me” says PJ Fleck after a disappointing loss to Illinois

Especially after getting to the quarterback all 4 plays that drive. Prevent defense when you’re up by a score is inexcusable, ESPECIALLY when it’s 4th and long, inside the offense’s 20, with a backup quarterback. Bielema sent pressure on every single play of the last Minnesota drive, and Athan...

***OFFICIAL ILLINOIS AT MINNESOTA WE NEED TO BEAT BB IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

The touchdown was bad but the prevent defense on 4th and 11 was inexcusable

    Beat Iowa. Beat Wisconsin.

I think 8 wins is very much in the realm of possibility. People saying the season is over apparently have a very short term memory from recent seasons. Almost every season has had a head-scratching loss early on. Some were obviously worse than others, but each year turned out with at least a...

Gophers AD Mark Coyle: Fans can look forward to more marquee nonconference games

I had this mindset too. Consequences of that loss are really not that significant unless you were crazy enough to think we were a playoff team. The near-term hump is the same as it has been: win the West. An early test helps the team learn and grow prior to conference play.
