Corey Clement cited for two counts of Disorderly Conduct

Darn, I was hoping it was a snowball fight! As far as I can tell, the timing is--wisconsin played at Maryland on November 7, fight was early AM on November 8. Clement did not play in Maryland or at least did not record any statistics. Anybody know if he made the trip? No game November 14 and then he played against Northwestern on November 21. Paper today says he'll be back for his senior year unless he's gets a draft grade of 2nd round or higher. Wonder if this makes either or both sides decide it's better if he moves on?

Will he play on Saturday? Seems like he's not fully healthy, might be a good time to give him some rest and let him think about what he's done.

per the link:

Citing video evidence and extensive interviews with participants and witnesses, Madison police this week said University of Wisconsin running back Corey Clement threw the first punch in a Nov. 8 dispute with a group of individuals at his off-campus residence. Clement, 23, suffered a cut on his hand in the fight, which he also played a large role in verbally instigating, police said.

Clement on Tuesday received two citations for disorderly conduct in connection with the incident, while two men from the opposing group, and a girlfriend of one of those men, received one citation each for disorderly conduct. The incident occurred in the early morning hours after the Badgers victory the previous night against Maryland.

In the police investigative report, obtained Wednesday by the State Journal, Madison Detective Joel Peterson also said the UW Athletic Department issued a misleading statement about the event shortly after it happened. He made this statement when one of the two men cited along with Clement, identified as Botmonyroth Men, 21, asked why Clement had been portrayed as acting in self-defense in media accounts published a few days after the incident.

Go Gophers!!

Amazing statistic of the day:

Wisconsin is #104 in rushing offense this year nationally.

But don't get too excited: our total offense is ranked 105th.

Wisconsin statement (paraphrased): Clement witnessed dispute between security guard and group of men. Clement got involved and he and security guard were then assaulted.

Police Report: An escalating series of hostile exchanges between Clement and the group of seven to eight Asian-American men included what police described as Clement's repeated use of "derogatory and sexually explicit language" toward the girlfriend of one of the two Asian men cited.

He'll play Saturday if not injured. IF BB was coaching no doubt. Paul Chyst will do what fat ass Barry says.if this was Minnesota he would have not played until the issue was finalized. It's Wisconsin for CS.

Probably not wise for a rabid Gopher football fan to call the hall of fame football coach from a rival "fat ass".

Heard on BTN Live just a short bit ago that the Clement situation is being handled internally. Translation? He plays Saturday.

Unbelievable, can you imagine what the star trib would do with this if it was a gopher player? Will Barry send out another letter on Twitter about how to do this the right way?
Every Badger fan should feel sick to their stomach if he plays Sat that their athletics dept is supportive of this behavior.

The police officer notes in the report that Clement did not seem to be under the influence at the time. Clement told police he and the security guard were in the elevator with a large group of Asian males and Asian females. Clement also told police that it started with a comment made by the security guard and him about the way one of the others in the elevator was wearing their pants low and relating it to those in prison.

Clement says that when the group exited the elevator things got "rowdy." He also told officers he had his back to the wall and "tried to stand my ground." In the report, Clement says during the fight he was on the ground, and punched and kicked "at least 25 times."

Dana Mitchell, the security guard, told police she would have called them sooner, but she did not have her phone with her as she escorted the group upstairs.

She tells police Clement and the group were in a verbal altercation until they were outside of the elevator. She told police that's when a female in the group got in the middle and Clement made the statement, "y'all need to get your hoe." Mitchell says she tried to get in the middle, but that eventually "Corey hit him."

Crazy that it doesn't sound like he'll be suspended at all.

Clement made the statement, "y'all need to get your hoe."

A simple misunderstanding. Corey wanted help gardening.

If they don't suspend him, that really shows what a joke Alvarez's letter was to the student section. Tough to expect a bunch of college students to care more about showing class than their professional athletics director.

He sucks who cares. Doubt Hus pro prospects are very good if he will 24 next year and still in school at running back.

he aint notn special no big deal if he plays or not..

He is one of the most talented backs in the country and very well would have been a first round pick and a top 3 RB drafted behind Henry and Elliott had he played the whole season. It is a very big deal whether he plays or not.

He was never going 1st round. RBs aren't as valuable in the NFL as they once were.

He will get a 3 week suspension starting Sunday. Will be able to continue practicing.

According to the link the issue is finalized. He received two citations. It's the equivalent of a underage drinking citation or a traffic violation. There's no criminal charge, arrest, etc., so I don't even think their university disciplinary system would look at it.

He's not recovered from his surgery. He seems to have lingering pain and hasn't been effective while he's been back. He's probably not in peak conditioning either. Could he hurt us? Sure, a schoolgirl could run behind a traditional Wisconsin line. Last season Clement came in and ran through Mack truck size holes mainly in garbage time. He's a quick back with decent vision but I don't think he's light years better than Ferguson and he's a clear drop off from #25.

Their run blocking is suspect this year. Stave is playing on the road this time and Wisconsin has struggled to score all season. If we can move the ball we will win this game. Limegrover will bring his A game (I hope). Just move the chains.

You are being very unfair only calling out the run blocking. The pass blocking is very suspect as well. Good defenses have given the Badgers problems. Average or bad defenses have not. Even so, the Badgers are good at making mistakes that leads them to scoring 20-25 points against average teams instead of more.
