Iran Nuclear Agreement - My Take

1. Iran should never be allowed to develop nuclear weapons.

They now will have access to 140 billion more dollars to do so and the ability of inspectors to monitor them will be limited.

Iran will get many tens of billions of dollars with or without an agreement. There is absolutely nothing the U.S. can do about it. Russia and China are ready to start doing business with Iran again. That is not going to change whatever happens.

2. The UN sanctions were put in place only as a prelude to negotiations leading toward an international agreement with Iran not to develop nuclear weapons.

They broke the sanctions when they could and they will break the "deal." That's who they are.

Maybe Iran will break the deal but the rest of the world will be in a better position to know about it.

3. U.S. sanctions by themselves will never prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon. Iran does not want relations with the U.S. of any kind.

Iran is a dishonest partner in any deal- you are correct they don't want relations with us and for that reason this deal was all take and no give. Our rivals are celebrating our bargaining defeat today.

That is probably true but the U.S. and Israel will be in a better position after implementation of the agreement that they are now.

4. The UN sanctions against Iran will start to break down in the event a nuclear agreement is not consummated. Russia and China have already started to violate the UN sanctions regime against Iran.

5. Nuclear experts estimate that Iran is currently no more than 90 days away from making a workable nuclear weapon. Nobody really knows for sure because Iran does not allow the IAEA to do inspections.

Nor will they. The IAEA will see what Iran wants them to see- nothing more.

Absolutely true. And the U.S. and Israel will have the same options to respond as they do now.

6. The negotiated agreement will not prevent Iran from making nuclear weapons. It will only accomplish two goals: (a) extend the time it will take for Iran to complete a nuclear weapon from 90 days to as long as one year; (b) give the IAEA far more access to inspect Iran"s nuclear facilities than it now has (the IAEA currently has no access).

This is true. So for a 270 day improvement we gave the access to 140 billion (to help them accomplish it) and the ability to more freely buy conventional weapons to support terror.

As I stated previously, this was going to happen with or without an agreement.

7. Trust that Iran will live up to it's promises is not a factor in this agreement. Under the terms of the agreement the IAEA will be in a better position to know what Iran is doing than they do now. If the IAEA is not allowed to inspect and verify Iran's nuclear facilities we can only assume they are violating the agreement and take whatever action is necessary in response.

You can assume violation immediately. We are talking about Iran- the nation equivalent of Charles Manson.

The U.S. and Israel already have plans in place to respond to any violations by Iran.

8. In the event Iran violates the nuclear agreement in the future, America (and Israel) will be able to do what they can do now: (a) put new and more punitive sanctions in place (but without the cooperation of the international community); (b) bomb Iran with conventional or nuclear weapons; (c) bomb Iran with conventional and nuclear weapons AND invade Iran.

Might as well get started with it.

So be it.
