I know everyone is worked up about the homecoming football game with Purdue on Saturday. But the Gopher women's volleyball team has a huge match against Penn State at the Sports Pavilion on Sunday as well.

In other words, it's a huge sports weekend at the U starting tonight when the volleyball team hosts Ohio State this evening and continuing through to Sunday.

Here's hoping folks can get out and see the volleyball match tonight, the football game tomorrow and then the match against the top-ranked Nittany Lions on Sunday. It's not often that you get a chance to see two top-5 teams, including the nation's best team in Penn State, face-off against one-another. Good luck ladies!!!!

I'll be at all three

Volleyball beat OSU 3-1

Football beat Purdue 35-20

On to Penn State... could be a great one! The game is on BTN live as well if you can't make it to the The Barn.

Penn State just keeps rolling... 82nd consecutive wins

Gophers had a lead late (into the 20s) in sets 1 and 2. They were up 22-21 in set 1 and up 21-20 in set 2 before PSU reeled off 5 straight. Set 3, though, was just a replica of what PSU did to the Gophers in all 3 sets last year at Williams Arena.

26-24, 25-21, 25-14

Just got done watching the Penn State match and needless to say, the Nittany Lions are a pretty awesome bunch. We were right there in the first two sets but could never get over the hump. We struggled a bit in game three and against a squad as loaded as Penn State, that always leads to bad things.

All and all, the ladies played pretty well for two games. But Penn State never allows anybody to get any long runs going. Even when we got ahead in the first two games, we could never string anything together, which is a testament to how good Penn State really is.

Having said that, sitting at 14-4 and 5-1 in the league isn't a bad place to be. Hopefully, the ladies can come up with a big performance on the road against Illinois.
