Upcoming schedule...
Houston
@ San Antonio
@ New York
Orlando
Memphis
@ Dallas
Golden State
@ Chicago
@ Memphis
Oklahoma City
Milwaukee
Miami
My pick is 2-24 Oklahoma City at home on January 7th. That would snap a 20 game losing streak and improve their record to 5-30.

I agree. Home vs OKC is the only sure one on that list.
If OKC finishes last they'll use the first pick to select Blake Griffith, the hometown boy from OU. Who would Minesota target with the second pick?

If OKC finishes last they aren't guaranteed the #1 pick, but will have the best odds in the lottery.
It's really amazing at how bad the Wolves are. We have basically the same team as last year but added Love, Miller, a healthy Foye and other young guys like Big Al are a year older and more seasoned, but we're just brutal. There is no way that the departure of Jaric hurts us this much.
For Zeppelin Gopher and I to reach our predicted 35 season win prediction, the Wolves will have to go 31-26 over the last 57 games - ha! Wow were we off!!
The only good news is that this franchise will be blown up this offseason (I would hope/imagine) and we'd also hopefully trade McCants by then as well. It will be interesting to see how many of the draft picks we'll keep.
Meanwhile, Mario Chalmers has started every game this year for the .500 Heat and is averaging 10pts, 4 assists and 2 steals per game. I wonder who we'll draft with the second round pick next year that will be better than Chalmers...otherwise, why did we make that deal?

Yes, I understand. History tells us Minnesota won't get it!

The only guarantee in life is that the Wolves will never get the #1 pick.

depends on what they do with the front office between now and then. if the new guy (i'm praying there is a new guy) thinks we need a frontcourt player, we probably would look at hasheem thabeet from uconn. if we are looking for guard play, then it probably comes down to spanish teen sensation ricky rubio or brandon jennings, the american player who decided to skip college and play in europe for a season. of course, this all assumes we have a plan and don't draft at the two positions (wing and power forward) that we already have a glut of players. i am actually quite interested to see what we do if we happen to get the number one pick - griffin is clearly the top pick, but he is a true power forward, and we already have jefferson and love.

I know that I'm beating the proverbial dead horse but the biggest problem on a team with countless problems is Big Al. A nifty up and under move, an adequate defensive rebounder and an absolute team killer. He leads Foye, Shaddy and Smith in killing ball flow. He plays no defense, passes only in case of emergency (he refuses to pass to Miller) and has a terrible attitude. I would trade him yesterday for an expiring and a first rounder. He helped kill the Celtics and he is helping ruin the wolves.
Off of the court McHale and Taylor have emptied entire sections at Target Center. How did Taylor become the head of the NBA board of governors?

i think jefferson is a perennial stat stuffer on terrible teams. he's not a winning basketball player. but i'd be very surprised if we actually trade our "best" player. i think earl clark is a surefire solid nba player and a guy the wolves should consider taking in the draft. please no stephen curry. he's a great college player, but no thanks in the nba.

I agree with you on Curry which means that the wolves will probably grab him. (We need more 6'2" shooting guards.) He would be another guy who wouldn't get any passes from Big Al.

rychart,
>>he's a great college player, but no thanks in the nba.<<
He's fantastic when loosely guarded. He's more limited when a defensive scheme focuses on him. Which suggests to me that he might be better at the next level where defense is frequently a dirty word.
