I've been a bit of an education snob -- graduated from the U of M Law School in '94. I am planning on getting more education, but the program I really want is online. I really don't need to go "Old School" on the bit, but what's the view on online education these days? Looking at spending $24k and 18-months on an MBA. Thoughts? Thx in advance!

Online degrees are the rage, for better or worse, and most universities have decided they'd better join in whether they fully believe in internet delivery or not. With some employers in some fields, there's definitely a bias in favor of traditional instruction delivery. For example, I can't imagine a school administrator selecting a teacher candidate with an online degree over a candidate with traditional classroom and lab experiences. With other employers in other fields, perhaps it's only the piece of paper at the end that is important.

P.S.
Be absolutely certain that the source of your online coursework is fully accredited. Don't assume that they all are.

I took a look into it when looking at my master's degree. I then went around to hiring managers and asked what they thought of it. I ended up going to the U to get my master's degree. I have taken a class here and there online, and I found them to be extremely easy. The overhead of group work was a bit too set up, but wasn't restrictive. It did take away from some of the learning time, since you spend the first couple of weeks proving that you can access and engage in certain technologies. Ie Read Chapter 1, and post a topic to discuss.

It's a good option for experienced folks who are just trying to overcome the paper ceiling. I wouldn't suggest it for the younger folks.
