Minnesota Golden Gophers

Minnesota was already eager for Marcus Carr to be eligible, and Isaiah Washington's outgoing transfer has only intensified the excitement.

Washington's departure coincides with Dupree McBrayer graduating, so the Golden Gophers are losing 5.8 assists per game in the backcourt. Carr can replace much of that production, considering he averaged four assists as a freshman at Pitt.

Payton Willis can handle the rest.

In two seasons with Vanderbilt, he offered 5.1 points and 1.6 assists per game. Willis will provide much-needed depth behind Carr, a potential All-Big Ten player.

Gophers not losing as many assists as article would have you think too. They use Washington’s average but games he didn’t play are not factored rather than being factored as zeros.

If Carr is as good as gopherhole would have me think and Coffey comes back. Next years gopher team should be better than this years.
If Carr isn’t that good and Coffey leaves, it could be an historically bad season next year.

Pretty big deal if Carr is good as this article suggests. Comparing with other big 10 teams, we would be at least better than average at 4 positions, and still pending Murphy's replacement. (Assuming Coffey returns). Also, should be much improved depth wise compared to past seasons.
