The Minnesota Gophers men’s basketball team is tied for the fewest road wins in the Big Ten this season. But to keep alive its NCAA tournament aspirations — which reside on the fringe — the U seems in need to at least double or triple that total.

Minnesota, which is 1-7 in conference games away from Williams Arena, will have three chances in the final four regular-season games, starting at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, against Rutgers (12-14, 5-11 Big Ten) in Piscataway, N.J.

The Gophers will then go to Northwestern (12-14, 3-12) on Thursday and to No. 24 Maryland (20-7, 11-5) on March 8. In between, they play host to No. 15 Purdue (19-7, 12-3) on March 5.

“We can’t really take any game for granted,” senior forward Jordan Murphy said after Minnesota fell to 17-10 overall and 7-9 in the Big Ten with Thursday’s 69-60 loss to No. 7 Michigan. “We can’t really underestimate any opponent. We can’t afford to.”
