After being a mentor to freshman point guard Isaiah Washington this season, Mason hopes to see his former teammate help lead the Gophers back to the NCAA tournament next season.
“I passed the torch on to him, he’s my guy,” Mason said. “It’s going to happen. God doesn’t do things for no reason. There’s a purpose (for this year’s adversity). It was my senior year where I had to just help the younger players out with things. It’s all going to work out. Coach (Richard) Pitino has been on him really hard. It’s going to be different next year.”
