Does the firing of Rick Pitino help the Gophers?

With Rick Pitino not coaching this year, does that make his knowledge and experience more available to assist the Gopher coaching staff? I am curious of what people think about the possible impact this could have on our upcoming season...

Rick probably will not come within 500 miles of Richard this year or the next few. Sure, maybe a phone call with some Xs and Os could help.

To me, the way it could help is if some bigger program wants him and gets cold feet because they are worried about the reaction to hiring a Pitino for PR reasons even if Richard does not have a rap sheet.

He won't be any more present than he was previously. As Richard's father I'm sure he was always available for help/advice from a coaching standpoint and he was at a few games each year, spoke to the team a few times etc. He won't be out recruiting for us though that's for sure.
