per ESPN:

In a letter sent to Tom Jurich to justify his firing as Louisville athletic director with cause, interim president Gregory Postel alleges that Jurich engaged in willful misconduct.

Jurich was fired on Oct. 18 in a 10-3 vote by the school's board of trustees. That decision came two days after the school's athletics board voted to fire men's basketball coach Rick Pitino. Both were placed on administrative leave Sept. 27 as a result of the FBI's ongoing investigation into fraud and corruption in recruiting related to the steering of recruits to Adidas, sports agents and financial advisers.

In the letter, dated Oct. 20, Postel writes that Jurich's willful misconduct "was demonstrated through ineffective management, divisive leadership, unprofessional conduct, and a lack of collegiality best characterized as intimidation and bullying that extends from student government to the University's senior leadership" causing "substantial damage" to Louisville.

Go Gophers!!

I hear Norwood Teague is the front runner for the vacated position...[emoji41]

Scapegoating. None of this could possibly be related to senior administrators and regents/trustees looking the other way as Jurich and Pitino built a cash cow out of Louisville sports, could it? My fear in this scandal is that they ditch the "bad apples" without addressing the systemic problems of colleges acting as uncompensated minor leagues for the pros, allowing too many self-interested people (runners, agents, shoe companies, etc.) to have influence over players and their families, and an NBA policy that functionally forces guys who have little to no desire for a college education to be in college.

If the "commission" doesn't recommend that shoe companies get out of the camp business and come up with a workable alternative that doesn't push more under the table, the whole thing is a charade. Between the independent commission and the FBI investigation, we could be looking at three for four years before it's done, and the whole thing could be slow walked, people forget, and nothing changes. I'm not confident of any real reform. If anything, I can see the NCAA being torn up, with the big money schools going their own way and the rest putting together a B league that operates a little more honestly.

Go Gophers!!

And postel just noticed these behaviors after the sheets were thrown back. Convenient.

Lol they sure didn't mind when they were going to Final Fours winning a national title and winning Orange and Sugar Bowls

Agreed. Louisville's athletic department, and therefore the institution, bailed on ethical conduct within its sports programs long ago.

Now that some of it is coming home to roost, folks are beginning to point fingers. Amusing to say the least.
